JANUARY 2023 EDITION
The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce's monthly diversity, equity, and inclusion newsletter provides updates, programming, resources, and professional development to empower the business community to contribute to an equitable and inclusive region.

The LRCC DEI Series is powered by MSUFCU and AT&T.
Changing Lives by Closing the Digital Divide
Last month, we talked about AT&T Michigan opening its second Connected Learning Center in Michigan. AT&T’s Connected Learning Centers provide internet access and educational tools to those who face connectivity barriers. This initiative, aimed at removing barriers to affordability, access and adoption of technology, is crucial to the success of all residents, including those living in underserved communities.

It’s one thing to talk about it, but it’s another thing to see the impact in action. That’s why we put together this video to show you just what AT&T is doing in Michigan to bridge the digital divide. Learn more about AT&T’s work to bridge the digital divide here or watch the video below!

MLK Day of Celebration Back In-Person on Jan.16
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan is the nation’s longest-running, continuously operating MLK commission, and its annual Day of Celebration is the nation’s largest MLK Day luncheon event. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the first time the event will be in person at the Lansing Center since January 2020.

Fred D. Gray will headline the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan’s 38th annual signature event Monday, Jan. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Lansing Center, located at 333 Michigan Ave., Lansing.

Gray has been one of the nation’s leading civil rights attorneys for over 60 years. He is still practicing law at the age of 92. President Joe Biden recently awarded Gray the nation’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The theme for the 38th annual MLK Day of Celebration is: “Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksand of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.” For more information visit the MLK Commission's website.
