Honoring Larchmont Patrolman Arthur Dematte

On October 12, 2022 we honored the memory of slain Larchmont Patrolman Arthur Dematte. We were joined by his surviving family, their friends and local law enforcement.

National Coffee with a Cop Day was a great success and we appreciate all who came out to join us!

The Larchmont PD reminds residents that as we see daylight hours getting shorter, please remain cognizant and lock up your homes and vehicles at all times. Property crimes tend to rise in the winter months and we request you do your part in deterring these crimes of opportunity!

With the holiday season upon us please report any incidents of packages being stolen from your porch immediately to the police desk at 914-834-1000. Criminals who steal packages from your porch have been given the witty moniker of "Porch Pirates." Help us fight back the pirates this year by bringing your packages inside ASAP and doing your best to report any suspicious activity in your neighborhood.

Fire Prevention Month!

» October was Fire Prevention Month all across the U.S.A. Members from the Larchmont Fire Department attended schools, nursery schools, community groups, and other organizations to deliver high quality fire safety tactics for children and adults of all ages. The Fire Department was able to reach almost 300 students this year during the fire safety campaign!

Flood Water Rescue Donation

On Thursday October 13th, 2022, David Branch on behalf of Ray Catena's Lexus made a very generous donation to the Larchmont Fire Department. This donation was made to purchase items that can help better serve the residents of the Village of Larchmont. This contribution will go directly towards the purchase of flood water rescue equipment and supplies. Far too often the village is faced with flooding conditions that strand people and pets from getting to safety. With the purchase of our new equipment, the LFD will now be able to more effectively and quickly evacuate those in danger. Accepting the donation above is Chief John Caparelli. Ray Catena Lexus is located at 1435 Boston Post Road.

E-Bike Fire Safety!

Electric bicycles and electric scooters, known as e-bikes and e-scooters, are becoming increasingly popular worldwide, especially in cities. An estimated 300 million e-bikes are expected to be in use by next year. But did you know that the lithium-ion batteries often used to power these devices can lead to fires or explosions?

To address the issue, NFPA® has created a new webpage featuring information on why e-bikes and e-scooters catch fire, what some jurisdictions are doing to try and better regulate that risk, and what tips people can follow to stay safer if they store or charge e-bikes and e-scooters.

Visit nfpa.org/ebikes to explore these new, free safety resources.
