While studying photography, Alessandro was introduced to monorail cameras, and decided to build one in the 4x5 format, because his available options were too expensive. He transformed his home garage into a laboratory and started by using wood for the camera head. For components he cut and bent aluminum plates, used cotton and paper for the bellows, and substituted parchment paper instead of ground glass. After posting his experiment online, he immediately started receiving requests from other photographers to build personalized monorail cameras for them – which he did, improving the design along the way,
In 2015, Alessandro won the “Entrepreneurship in Modena,” award in the mechanical sector for his camera designs. A few years later, Alessandro started a partnership with SAU, a company committed to precision mechanics and quality tools engineering. Believing in Alessandro’s project, SAU created the Luxury, Research and Style Department.
In 2018, Alessandro moved Gibellini Camera headquarters to Polinago, to lead both his company and the new SAU Department, where a skilled team and state of the art tools like CNC machines and 3D printers have revolutionized his ability to realize his dreams.
