🏈 LARRY FITZGERALD JR IS COMING TO TIDE 🏈

Private Equity has a new PR strategy...
The Wall Street Journal recently declared the private equity boyfriend one of the summer's hottest accessories after a string of celebrities were linked to men in the industry
Apparently private equity is having a pop culture moment.
Who knew DPI could be sexy?
All jokes aside, the timing is pretty funny because the actual private equity industry is going through a much more serious reset.
Deal activity is improving. Exit activity is starting to move. LPs are still focused on distributions. Fundraising remains selective. And the gap between the strongest and weakest managers continues to matter.
The conversation is no longer simply: Do we believe in private equity?
It is becoming: Which managers actually deserve another commitment?
That feels like a much healthier conversation.
Show me the DPI
IRR will always have its place.
But after several years of slower exits, LPs are increasingly asking a much simpler question: When are we getting our money back?
McKinsey’s 2026 Global Private Equity Report found that DPI is now tied with MOIC as the second-most-important metric shaping LP allocation decisions, behind only IRR.
More than half of LPs surveyed described DPI as “critical” or “most critical.”
And there is a reason.
MSCI recently called it the “distribution drought in private equity,” reporting that PE distributions have remained near decade lows for four straight years.
Apparently “DPI is the new IRR” has even made its way onto T-shirts.
We get it.
Paper gains are nice.
Cash is nicer.
For managers heading into fundraising season, a great story still matters. But distributions make the story considerably easier to tell. Read: McKinsey: Global Private Equity Report 2026
Access is still an investment strategy
One of the conversations we care most about at TIDE is access. Not diversity for diversity's sake. Not checking a box.
Access to talent. Access to ideas. Access to managers and strategies that may be overlooked simply because they are not already managing $30 billion.
Institutional investors are continuing to look for differentiated sources of return, and that often means widening the aperture.
Emerging managers.
Diverse managers.
Specialist strategies.
New geographies.
New networks.
New perspectives.
None of those things guarantee performance.
But neither does investing with the same managers everyone else already knows. The opportunity is finding exceptional talent before everyone else discovers it.
Which brings us back to...
TIDE Austin 🤠
If access matters, so does the room.
On October 8, we're bringing approximately 150 institutional investors, allocators, investment managers, and industry leaders together at Hotel Viata for our final TIDE gathering of 2026.
Smaller by design.
More intimate by design.
And built around the kind of conversations that are much harder to have in a 5,000-person conference hall.
Plus, did we mention that Larry Fitzgerald Jr. is joining us? 😉
A pretty good reason to Experience the TIDE Vibes before the year ends.
