April 10, 2017

MAJOR big news this week!

First, Apple took the unprecedented step earlier this week of talking with the press about desktop hardware products that are still in development. They also spent a lot of time talking about their view of and commitment to pro users. I have a detailed blog on the meeting, what it means, and what we should expect. This is essential reading for anyone interested in desktop hardware. Read it here.

Second, I'm currently under NDA on major media announcements that will be made at NAB. However, I've been given permission to showcase one of them at my April 19 webinar. I call this my "Super-Secret Webinar."

While I can't talk about it - yet - I can tell you that it will make big news once the doors of the 2017 NAB Show open - and you can see it first right here. In fact, you'll see it here before anyone else in the world sees it! Exciting! Registration to all our live events is free, but seats will fill quickly. Sign up today - right here.

Thinking of surprising things, the folks at Editors Keys asked me to review one of their back-lit keyboards. I was really surprised at what I discovered, as you'll learn in my product review this week.

We wrapped our six-part Master Motion 5.3 series this last week with a step into 3D space in Motion. This has been a fun series. It gave me a chance to rediscover techniques I hadn't used for a while and look for better ways to explain how Motion works. This is also the first webinar series that was designed from the beginning as a multi-part series. This allowed me to better structure my training and cover more ground in less time. If you haven't purchased the full bundle yet, you can still save money. Click here to learn more.

As a note, there's no webinar this week - I'm busy studying for next week. Lots to learn.

We are two weeks away from the start of the annual NAB trade show and I'm starting to get excited. Press releases are inundating my email box and I'm learning about the new technology that will appear at the show.

Just as a reminder, if you can't make the show - or even if you can - be sure to check out the Digital Production Buzz coverage of all the big news at NAB - www.NABShowBuzz.com. See the show and guest schedule here and drop me a note to suggest a question to ask a guest.

 It is an exciting time! Until next week, edit well.

Last Week On The Buzz!

Last week's show was AMAZING! We talked voice acting and audio with:

   * Jim Cummings
   * Edd Hall
   * Robert Noone
   * Zack Allen
   * Michael Kammes
   * James DeRuvo

Jim is probably the most famous person you've never heard of - the voice of Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and hundreds of other animated characters. He shared how he develops his characters. Edd was Jay Leno's announcer and side-kick. He tells us how to succeed in voice-overs. Robert explains how to decide between renting and buying gear. Michael shared his experience as an audio editor. And Zack discussed how to record production sound successfully. Finally, James presented the weekly DoddleNEWS update.
