April 24, 2017

I'm writing this week's newsletter Saturday night from my hotel room in Las Vegas. The annual NAB Show starts Monday and tomorrow my team and I are spending the day setting up the Digital Production Buzz broadcast booth in preparation for our live trade show coverage starting 11 AM Monday morning. During our four days at the event, we'll have almost 100 interviews, so you'll have a great idea where our industry is headed by the time we're done.

NOTE: To listen to a live show or see our guest list, visit NABShowBuzz.com. We have a new live show every hour.

I will confess that NAB is my favorite trade show. There are others that are smaller, more intimate, and allow me to learn more and more easily. But, for encapsulating the breadth, depth and excitement of the media industry, nothing touches NAB. Our world may not change come Monday, but it won't be the same, either. I'm looking forward to seeing the future.

And, thinking of the future, last Wednesday Adobe announced and released major updates to all its Creative Cloud applications. While the focus was on Premiere, After Effects, and Audition got some serious love as well. Almost a thousand people attended my live webinar that day, as I presented the newest features in the software. It was a fun presentation and the audience had lots of interesting questions. If you weren't able to attend the webinar - or, if you want to watch it again to make sure you caught everything - I've posted it to my store and the Video Training LibraryHere's the link.

By the way, for a limited time, we are offering this "New Features" webinar for only $9.99. If you use Premiere, you'll find this session invaluable.

Or, for folks that want the Cliff Notes version, my lead article in this issue details the changes and improvements in an article, rather than video.

As I was researching my webinar I discovered an audio effect in Audition that can solve a lot of problems for editors who handle green screen, ADR or interview audio. Its called the Convolution Reverb. This effect just moved into Premiere with the update and what it does is emulate a room's reverb so that recordings which were done in different locations all sound the same. One of my videos this week explains how that works. It sounds scary, but it can be extremely helpful in getting audio to match.

Also, as part of the updates, Adobe vastly simplified creating text titles in Premiere. We no longer need to use the Title dialog with its overwhelming choices. My second video excerpt illustrates this new text title tool.

I'm looking forward to learning lots of new things this coming week - and, even more, sharing what I learn with you.  In the meantime, edit well.

The Newest Features in
Adobe's Creative Cloud Software
Last week, Adobe announced and released updates for all their Creative Cloud media software including:

* Adobe Premiere Pro CC
* Adobe After Effects CC
* Adobe Audition CC
* Adobe Media Encoder CC
* Adobe Character Animator

I had the opportunity to work with a pre-release version of the software prior to its release, in order to create this webinar. In it I showcase all the major updates in each software, then illustrates how many of them work.

This is available as a download, or as part of our Video Training Library
Webinars Pausing for NAB
Our webinars are taking a break this next week so that I can present the latest news and technology from the annual NAB Show.

During the show, we are creating 27 live podcasts - each runs about 40 minutes and features 4 guests each.

These are a great way to get a sense of where our industry is heading and who's making the news without wasting time.
