Aug. 27, 2018

This is the last Monday in August - can you believe August went by that quickly? Next Monday is Labor Day - a holiday here in the US. Which is another way of saying that, since things are a bit slow, this is a perfect time to take a look at your system and fix anything that needs tweaking before fall kicks into gear.

So, for this week, I collected a variety of articles on how to maintain your system. For example, a really good habit to develop is to do a " Safe Boot" on your system every week or so. My lead story in the Articles section describes how.

I have articles on Mac computers, FCP X, FCP 7, storage, and fixing problems. These articles have been written over the years and I update them periodically as new technology is released.

Webinars will start again the week after Labor Day - and, as always, I'm looking for ideas to discuss. One of the things I'm hoping to do more of, with this new system I'm working on, is provide more webinars that discuss audio.  Expect more details in next week's newsletter. And, if there are topics you are interested in learning, please email me!

It may be summer, but the Digital Production Buzz has had some excellent shows recently. Last week we looked at technology training: both in the classroom and online, created by independent companies, resellers and developers. As you might guess, training is something I care a lot about. Last week's show was fascinating due to its diversity - there are SO MANY different ways training can be created and delivered. We talked with folks from CreativeLIVE, Future Media Concepts, HumanEyes and KeyCode Media. Listen to the show here.

That's about it for this week. Last week was slow, this week is slower. I'm expecting next week to come to a dead stop. THEN, things pick up as we ramp up for IBC. In the meantime, edit well .

Last Week On The Buzz!
As technology changes, it is more important than ever to keep our skills up-to-date. That means training. These few remaining days of summer are a perfect time to hone existing skills or learn something new.
Last week, we talked with a variety of  training firms about their approach to training and how to decide what works best for you.
* Johnathon Amayo, KeyCode Media
* Jim Malcolm, HumanEyes
* Ben Kozuch, Future Media Concepts
* Mak Azadi, CreativeLIVE
* James DeRuvo, DoddleNEWS
Join us LIVE every Thursday here.

New shows air live every Thursday evening at 6:00 PM Los Angeles time.
