News and new articles this week. First, TheInsideTips.com just released its 400th tip; which is pretty amazing when you think about it! Where else can you go that's "all tips - all the time?" If you haven't signed up, here's the link. Also, I encourage you to contribute your own tips. Our Tip Letters are read in 60 countries!

In other news, Red Giant is publishing new tutorials on how to use their effects. But what caught my attention is that you can download a free trial of Red Giant complete. Their effects work in both Mac and Windows, are fully functional and not watermarked. Just time-limited. I've used them for years and recommend them.

Motion VFX announced a variety of new plugins, but the one that really caught my eye was mMovie Lights for FCP X. This provides cinematic lighting effects, including atmospheric lighting and some lovely lens flares. The trailer is worth watching just for the music.

New Blue FX announced an update to their TotalFX 360 effects package. The update features Color Replace, Cut Away to highlight sections of the screen, Lens Correction for distortion correction, and Picture Grid to put multiple images on screen at the same time. Subscriptions by month, quarter, annual or perpetual.

Shifting to new articles, I have one showing how to create some very cool effects using Blend Modes which can be used in  Premiere, Final Cut or  Photoshop. By anyone, actually, whose software has a blend mode option. These are just fun to look at. Here's the link.

Next, I was looking at past articles and realized that it's been more than six years since I wrote about handling double-system audio. So, my next two articles describe the process for Final Cut and Premiere. I am a huge fan of double-system because it allows us to pick cameras for their image and audio gear for its flexibility and quality. Links are below.

That's it for this week. Until next week,   edit well .
