July 10, 2017

It's the middle of the summer here in LA and it is HOT! Sheesh... 105° plus. I'm huddled next to my air conditioner, thinking cool thoughts. Hope you and your summer are going well and you are getting the chance to take some time off.

I have three new articles and three new videos for you this week. My lead story sprang from an email suggestion from Lanny Cotler who asked me for thoughts on how to plan and organize a new project. In return, I came up with a checklist for video editing.

As for the new videos, last week's webinar looked at three different media management systems. So, I created excerpts from that webinar featuring each of the three packages: Kyno, KeyFlow Pro and Final Cut Library Manager. If your projects involve either collaboration or managing lots of media, you need to watch these to discover how they can help you.

In fact, I recommend you watch the entire webinar, which includes an overview and extended questions and answers about all three packages. Learn more here.

For this week's webinar, I'm presenting "Multicam Editing in Adobe Premiere Pro CC." I checked my notes and discovered that the last time I covered this was back in 2014. Wow! Things change and it's time to bring this up to date with the latest features in Premiere. Registration to our live events is always free - sign up here.

As I mentioned last week, we finalized new education pricing for our Video Training Library. If you are faculty at any high school, college or university and want to provide access to the more than 1,600 training movies in my online streaming Library for your students, drop me an email and I'll send you the details. We've had lots of requests for this over the years and I think we finally figured out a system that works for everyone.

This summer, the Digital Production Buzz is looking at storage and web services. Last week, we looked more closely at Cloud storage. At its simplest, Cloud storage is a fancy name for a remote server, controlled by someone else, that provides web access to its clients. However, in practical terms, a lot more is involved. I was especially impressed with comments from Tom Coughlin, president of Coughlin Associates, and Andy Klein, director of product marketing for Backblaze.com. Click here to listen.

Well, I'm gonna get more ice for my tea, then make sure our air conditioner will survive till, um, October when, hopefully, this hot spell will break. I look forward to chatting with you next week. In the meantime, edit well.
