If you're like me, you've been inundated over the last few days with emails asking you to reconfirm whether you want to be on a company's email list. This was caused by new regulations in the European Union regarding data collection and individual privacy. The EU has taken the lead on this issue, which I applaud. All too often, in the rush to embrace new technology, the consequences of this technology on the individual are overlooked. We only need to look at FaceBook to see the results of this.

Anyway, when I first started this website, I made the decision that we would track only the bare minimum of viewer data necessary. If all you do is visit my website to read articles, I have no idea who you are. If you read this newsletter, I track your email address. And, if you purchase a product in our store, we process your credit card information, but we don't retain your credit card numbers. I've updated our privacy policy - which you can read here - just to let you know what data we track. As always, feel free to ask questions and, if you ever need to say good-bye, you can unsubscribe at any time using links at the bottom of every email we send.

Webinars return this week with a look at the advanced features of Apple Compressor. Most of the time, we can get our work done using just a few presets. However, sometimes, we need a lot more depth. So, this week, I'll explain how a variety of these advanced features work. Registration for our live webinars is always free. Sign up here.

I have four new articles for you this week spanning Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Media Encoder, Apple Compressor and a First Look at iGlasses, which is a very helpful utility from ecamm.com.

The Digital Production Buzz looked at a variety of new audio technology this last week, including new ways of distributing audio over Ethernet, the birth of the next generation of radio, and new audio mixers from Roland. I always enjoy talking about audio and this was a very interesting show. Listen to it here.

For those of you in the US, take time this Memorial Day to reflect on the men and women who have died while serving in the military for the USA. For everyone outside the US, my best wishes for the coming week. I look forward to chatting with you next Monday. In the meantime, edit well.
