Oct. 7, 2019

I'm really excited to share with you a sneak peak of something we've been working on all summer. The formal launch is next Monday, but, as a regular reader, I want to give you the first look. More on this in a second.

First, the news.

Smartsound released Create Music. This interactive music scoring app allows you to drag any video file into a browser (Chrome and Firefox are recommended), then listen as you play a variety of music clips with it. This is a lighter version of SonicFire, with a simpler interface and browser-based.

Adobe announced last week that Character Animator will soon support key frames. "Similar to Keyframes in After Effects and Premiere Pro, Keyframes in Character Animator offers creators a simple way to animate behavior properties, like the changing effect of wind strength or gravity direction on tree branches blowing in the wind. They can also be triggered on-the-fly to add impact to live performances." The news has not yet on Adobe's website. (Adobe press release)

Now for MY news. I learned long ago that all of us are fascinated by secret tips and hidden features - or, at least secret and hidden from us. Tips and tricks have always been popular in my website, books and presentations. So, over the summer, we decided to build this into something bigger.

200 pixels Introducing " The Inside Tips" a series of short newsletters filled with tips and techniques focused on your favorite software. Each newsletter is free, ad-supported and released twice each week! Each issue contains at least three tips you can put to use immediately. Plus, you can rate each tip to help us discover the techniques that you find most useful.

The website and tip sign-up is live and working now. The formal launch will be next Monday, with first issues starting next week. The full site will be in operation by the end of October.

Here's the cool part: We actively encourage you to send in your favorite tips and pay you when they are published!  (Contributions will start the end of October.)

There are no hidden gotchas. The reason we made this ad-supported is so that everyone can afford to join. We don't track you. We don't sell your data. We don't ask for any financial information. All we want is to share what we've spent years learning - how to make the most of the software you use everyday!

Here's the link - www.TheInsideTips.com - sign up today! First issues start next week. And, as always, let me know what you think. It's free and very cool!

I'm not the only person releasing something new, Apple is getting ready to release macOS Catalina. What you need to know is my lead story this week. Then, I have a tutorial on the Timeline Index in Final Cut Pro X, along with answering a reader's question about why iPhones don't shoot 25 fps video.

It's an exciting time and I'll have even more to share with you next week. In the meantime, please visit TheInsideTips.com and edit well.
