Last Wednesday, in my webinar, I did something that I haven't done since the days of the Digital Production Buzz five years ago: a live interview! I spoke with Sam Bogoch, Founder/CEO of Axle AI about the current state of AI as it applies to media. A lot of folks were interested - it was the highest attended webinar so far this year and very well received!

I sent a survey to attendees after the webinar:

  • 92% of respondents found the session helpful
  • 75% would like to see these types of interviews continue
  • 62% felt the best timing would be monthly

Yay! We are working on it. And, if you weren't able to attend, we decided to make last week's webinar free.

Thinking about the impact of AI and pondering what we need to do to survive, I was reminded of an article I wrote that might be helpful. There are four essential editor skills that I think every video editor needs to master.

Here are two excerpts from my recent Adobe Premiere Pro webinar. Fx badges are hidden in plain sight in every Premiere Pro clip. But, what you may not know is how much they can speed adding and modifying audio and video effects. In this short video, I show where these are, how they work and the tricks you can use.

For professional media creators, the landscape is increasingly complex and demanding. The integration of advanced technologies changed everything. Now, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud computing are not just optional extras but essential tools for staying competitive, as this guest post from Nicole Hardy explains.

Here are three excerpts from last week's AI webinar. AI is causing seismic tremors of fear and loathing throughout the entire creative community. In this short snippet, Sam Bogoch, Founder/CEO of Axle AI, explains to Larry Jordan whether it’s possible for AI to be trained without violating copyrights or stealing the creative work of others?

Next, we look at whether there are any applications where AI can enable us to get our work done, as opposed to replacing us?

Finally, Sam shares what media creators can do to protect their work. There are real threats and real opportunities - and the pace is only going to speed up.

This was a fascinating week - we are rolling out new features and getting your ideas on how to move forward. It is an exciting time. It is also a challenging time, as Sam Bogoch said during our interview, "There are real threats and real opportunities.... Instead, I think to focus on the creative possibility is to really say: This whole field is going to be unrecognizable in five years, and even more so in ten years.

"We can be the masters of this because we already understand the fundamentals, we’re already good at those, we already know how to make stuff that looks good and tells a great story. So you can either ride the wave or you can be kind of crushed by the wave." And how many times over the last twenty years have we found ourselves in exactly the same position?

Until next Monday, stay safe, stay healthy, and edit well.
