Looking at the news on my home page, I want to point out a two features you may have missed. First, there's almost 600 stories (591 as of today) posted over the last 18 months. Each of them with a link to learn more. 

More hidden, this list provides full-text search. Not just by date or company, but any word anywhere. Type in "lens" or "effect" to see every entry that contains the text you are searching for.

This can be a very helpful online resource when you know what you want, but don't know what it's called or who makes it. Take a look.

Last week, Jim emailed a question that took me back 25 years to when I first started using a computer to edit.

So, while this is a "beginner question," it can drive you nuts if you don't know the answer. Because I certainly screwed this up when I first started editing.

The holidays at the end of the year are a good time to take stock and plan for the future. This is something I'm spending a lot of time currently thinking about.

To this end, I've invited a number of industry leaders to share their thoughts on the past year and what it means for the future. Our industry is vast and no one person can know all of it. My goal is to publish their opinions in next week's issue.

I'm looking forward to reading their thoughts.

For now, though, give yourself permission to slow down, take a deep breath, and celebrate the people that are important in your life. Friends and family are sometimes easy to overlook as the pressures of work interfere. This is the time of year to correct that imbalance.
