As I work more and more with closed captions, I realize that there are more and more places where they can be useful.
Not just for the hearing impaired, but for the rest of us.
Closed captions - especially if they've been proof-read at least a little - can solve problems with poor audio, strong accents, heavy background noise, or simply watching a video with the sound turned off.
The ability to change the size or color of captions - which is controlled by the user, not the creator - is extremely useful for folks that have weak eyes as well as weak ears.
And, for me, another advantage of a caption file is that I can open it in Text Edit, then search it to see if it has the information I need. Captions aren't as easy to read as a transcript, but they will do in a pinch.
As I was adding captions to these bundles, I was patting myself on the back for adding captions to all the videos in my Video Training Library. Then, I realized, I also need to add them to all the webinars in my store.
Sigh.... Now I know what my main project will be this coming week. Well, that and Wednesday's webinar. See you then.
Until next Monday, stay healthy, stay hopeful and edit well.
