Last week's webinar - Visual Effects in Final Cut Pro 11 - is now available in my store. I demoed more than 55 effects (depending upon how you count, closer to 70) spanning every effects category in FCP. It was a fun presentation with several hundred folks attending. It is now available in my store and Video Training Library.

I'm taking off for a three-week vacation to SouthEast Asia, a part of the world I've never visited. Webinars will resume later in February. I'll still be on email so feel free to reach out.
Thinking of last week's webinar, I have two excerpts for you. The first shows how to stabilize a shaky video and what the settings mean.

The second presents a variety of generators, including several new ones, and shows how to use them as backgrounds and with text.

As I was getting ready to post my webinar, I came across a bug in Final Cut that I caution you about. I notified Apple but, for now, be aware.

Finally, another caution, this one concerning Microsoft Word. There is apparently a conflict between Office 2021 and macOS Sonoma (14.x).

The massive fires in Los Angeles have distracted all of us this past week. While I no longer live there, I have many friends who do. So far, all are safe. But the same cannot be said for their houses. It is easy, for people that don't live there, to point fingers of blame. But when those hot, dry, Santa Ana winds start blowing at 100 mph, nothing can stop them. I know that from personal experience.
It is far too early to determine the impact of these fires on our industry. But that they WILL have an impact, I have no doubt. For now, all we can do is support the recovery effort and keep those in harm's way in our thoughts. And if you or your family are caught in the midst of these fires, remember, YOU are more important than anything you own. Though losing a lifetime of memories is very, very difficult.
Until next Monday, stay safe, stay hopeful and edit well.
