This week's webinar - Fairlight Audio in DaVinci Resolve 19 - is an in-depth look at the Fairlight audio page in DaVinci Resolve. (Even if you don't use Resolve, you'll learn a lot about audio mixing by attending this session.) This will cover: key audio terms, setting levels and keyframes, optimizing audio tracks before the video edit, editing audio, repairing audio, mixing audio, importing audio from other NLEs, exporting audio mixes and integrating audio with other Resolve pages.
Trivia: Did you know that Fairlight supports 2,000 audio tracks?

Thinking of Resolve, Paul Taylor asked if I could compile a list of essential keyboard shortcuts for DaVinci Resolve. So, here they are: Almost 100 essential keyboard shortcuts! (By the way, here are shortcut lists for Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro.)

Part of the fun in planning our NAB coverage is looking for new gear to test in a real-world setting. So, three weeks ago, I purchased a Røde Podcaster Pro II audio mixer specifically for this event. Except, it's a serious disappointment. Here's my review.

As soon as I finish writing this newsletter, my focus shifts to writing, recording and editing this week's Resolve podcast. Because GoToWebinar doesn't support quality audio playback, I need to get this done and posted before Wednesday so registered viewers can stream it directly.
Then, it's time to finish getting gear and prepping for my interviews at NAB New York. We have almost 40 folks scheduled! Whew! If you have two days free and want to be an unpaid production assistant, with free access to the show, I could use your help.
It's going to be a very busy two weeks. Until next Monday, stay healthy, stay hopeful and edit well.
