Larry builds his computer skills
One of learner Larry's main goals of studying with Literacy Network was to build basic computer skills. This fall, with the help of his tutor, Larry sent his first ever email! "It was really difficult at first," he says, "but I got the hang of it."

He has also received a computer through Literacy Network's computer loan program and is spending extra time working on the computer independently.

Larry has been studying with Literacy Network since spring of 2020. He plans to earn his GED and then study culinary arts at Madison College. "To become successful," says Larry, "This is a good place to start."
Supporting students during hard times
Literacy Network strives to build connections and support learners however it can. In the words of learner Anabel, "It's not just about English classes. It's about helping people."

Our student services team recently shared this success story that highlights our holistic approach: Earlier this year Literacy Network's student services team worked with the YWCA to support a learner facing homelessness. M., a single mother attending online English classes, called us when she received a five-day eviction notice from her landlord. Our Student Services Manager helped M. with the application and supporting documents, the YWCA issued a check to the landlord, and M. was able to stay in her home. M. went on to finish her Basic English class and graduated to our Level 1 English class the next semester!

Your generosity makes support for learners like M. possible. Donate now to provide vital assistance to adult learners.
Learners participate in new COVID-19 curriculum
Literacy Network has prioritized providing accurate, easy-to-understand COVID-19 vaccine information and, as a result, the number of vaccinated students increased from 26% in April to 78% in June.

As booster shots have become more widely available and younger children have become eligible for the vaccine, Literacy Network created a new vaccine mini-lesson so learners have up-to-date information to make these health decisions for their families. All learners completed this curriculum by Thanksgiving!
You made it our best GivingTuesday ever!
112 Literacy Network donors gave more than $54,000 for November 30th's GivingTuesday, making this our best GivingTuesday ever!

Thanks to you, we far exceeded our $10,000 match challenge established by two dedicated volunteers and donors. Special thanks to the learners, supporters, and staff who showed their gratitude in their Giving 'Grati'Tuesday photos shared here.

There's still time to make your gift this year! Your support helps to make adult learners' dreams possible!
