(Livermore, Calif., August 30, 2022)—The Las Positas College (LPC) Music Department and the Las Positas College Foundation, in collaboration with the Wente Foundation for Arts Education, Livermore Valley Arts and Steinway & Sons, are thrilled to invite guests to the All-Steinway School Gala Celebration on September 17 at the college’s Mertes Center for the Performing Arts. The event celebrates the Music Department’s recent designation as an All-Steinway School, an honorific held by just over 200 schools worldwide.
As an All-Steinway School, students are assured that high-quality pianos will be provided for their music study, ensuring high quality instrumentation during their time at LPC. The college’s All-Steinway School status is a testament to its commitment to providing students, faculty, visiting artists and the community with the complete Steinway experience. It has been a long-standing goal of the LPC Music Department and the LPC Foundation to earn this designation.
The college is delighted to provide the students with access to the new Steinway Model B Spirio | r piano. Steinway & Sons are recognized as the world leader in the production of concert quality pianos. The Steinway Spirio | r is a high resolution player piano capable of live performance capture and playback. With a blend of artistry and technology, Spirio | r provides new ways to access, share and experience performances. After years of hard work, Dean of Arts and Humanities Division Amy Mattern expressed her pride and excitement that LPC has been recognized as an All-Steinway school.
“I am thrilled to have LPC share this unique and prestigious designation,” said Mattern. “This is the culmination of a seven-year effort and, as of last spring, we are the first community college with this beautiful Steinway Model B Spirio | r.”
LPC’s All-Steinway School Gala Celebration evening will begin at 6 p.m. featuring a wine reception with hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and performances by LPC music faculty, current students and alumni. The program will also include a special remote performance by Grammy Award-winning Steinway artist Bill Charlap.
The proceeds from this event will benefit the LPC Music Department’s Steinway Fund supporting the students and needs of the All-Steinway School Program, including hosting Steinway artist events and piano fleet tuning and maintenance.
Tickets are $100 per person and cover wine, beverages and hors d’oeuvres. Cocktail attire is suggested for guests attending the event. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.lpcfoundation.org/all-steinway-gala/.
