American Cancer Society's Coaches vs. Cancer Las Vegas Golf Classic 2020 E-Update
July 2020 l Issue No. 7
Dear CvC Teammates,

We are a month away from this year’s Coaches vs. Cancer Las Vegas Golf Classic presented by Sanford Health . In many ways, this is turning into the most important Classic to date. The American Cancer Society has been devastated financially because of the pandemic and that directly impacts those we are fighting for. Our Las Vegas Classic offers hope and help.

Cancer has not stopped - and neither can we. We are incredibly grateful for your commitment to supporting the American Cancer Society’s fight. It’s especially critical at this time and we appreciate the eagerness of MGM Resorts , Shadow Creek , Southern Highlands and the coaches to adapt their calendars for the cause.
Your safety and wellness are our top priorities during the Classic. With those in mind, our evening events are going to take a different shape this year. We’re continuing to coordinate with event partners and will share more details as they become available. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to balance ensuring your safety, delivering a pleasing experience and continuing our united attack on cancer.
Thank you for being a part of the 2020 Las Vegas Golf Classic . We need you now more than ever. (Participants who have yet to provide needed registration information ( click here to find the form) are asked to do so immediately.)

See you next month in Las Vegas!

Comprehensive Cancer Centers keeps fighting during pandemic
Local partner, a key teammate with Coaches vs. Cancer, American Cancer Society
During the past four Coaches vs. Cancer Las Vegas Golf Classics, the presence of Comprehensive Cancer Centers has been strong. Their cancer warriors have been honored. Their doctors have been featured. And the energy from those representing Comprehensive Cancer Centers at the event is contagious.

Each Classic has been a celebration of what Comprehensive Cancer Centers does daily - fight to save lives vs. cancer. This May (although there was no LV Golf Classic due to the pandemic), the Comprehensive Cancer Center team was still fighting.
“We have remained open and fully functional for our patients,” said Jon Bilstein , chief executive officer of Comprehensive. “Our doctors and staff are frontline, but they are committed to serving those battling cancer - who are at a higher risk due to the virus. It’s been inspiring to watch.”

Comprehensive is a multi-specialty practice offering medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, breast surgery, pulmonary medicine, cancer genetic counseling and clinical research to patients in Southern Nevada. The practice has 47 physicians, 18 advanced practice providers and 15 treatment centers and offices throughout the LV valley.
Jon, Lisa (Santwer) and all involved with Comprehensive Cancer Centers are such great fans of Coaches vs. Cancer,” said Lon Kruger , event founder and chair. “But we are just as big of fans of them and what their doctors and their entire team do. They are such a great group to root for and we value being their teammates in the Classic.”

Bilstein added Comprehensive’s support of Coaches vs. Cancer and the American Cancer Society is as critical now as ever before.

“We know it’s been a difficult number of months for Coaches vs. Cancer and the American Cancer Society and we’re proud to be here for our teammates,” Bilstein said.
Comprehensive prides itself on its extensive research program that brings groundbreaking clinical research trials to the community. The practice, which partners with institutions such as UCLA TRIO-US, The US Oncology Network, USC, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and leading pharmaceutical companies, participates in more than 170 Phase I, II & III clinical research studies each year, and has participated in the development of more than 100 FDA-approved cancer therapies.
Safety and wellness at the forefront for

Sunday, Monday evening events to be altered
While the Las Vegas Strip and MGM Grand have been reopened for guests for over a month, the pandemic will still impact the Coaches vs. Cancer Las Vegas Golf Classic based on operating guidelines from the State of Nevada - which are constantly being updated.

Because of this, our Sunday and Monday evening events will be different than in years past. We’re continuing to coordinate with event partners - based on state mandates - and will share more details as they become available. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
The MGM Resorts team worked with medical experts to develop its “Seven-Point Safety Plan” - available here - which puts your health and safety at the center of all they do. It is a comprehensive, multi-layered approach with guidance from public health experts.
