Las Vegas Region PCA Newsletter
Note from the President

Concern and information regarding COVID-19 continues to increase daily. Nothing is more important than the health of our members. Out of an abundance of caution and to minimize unnecessary risk to all, we are postponing the events we had scheduled which were to occur inside or estimated 100 plus guests between March 16 and April 13, 2020.

We are lucky to live in Nevada where we have hundreds of miles of trails and roads with plenty of fresh air. Our trail bosses, Todd Trimble and Scott Hatcher, are working on another off road run for the SUVs in our Region. Scott Hatcher, our drive chair, is working on a tour where we can maintain “social distancing” and still enjoy a fun drive.

This would be a great time to get your Porsche track ready for our next DE event on May 23-24, 2020 or simply take care of those maintenance items you have been putting off. Give Todd Trimble at Trophy Performance, Scott Mann at Hybrid, Tony Mazzagatti at Carl’s Place 900 Series Motorsports or Paul Molina at Gaudin Porsche a call to get those items done now.
Our next Board meeting will be on May 6th at Gaudin Porsche. We have continued our Members’ Barbeque and drive to Mt. Charleston to October 3rd. The next Thirsty Third Thursday will be on April 16th. We will meet for Brunch on May 3rd at Red Rock Country Club. Am looking forward to seeing you then!
In the meantime, stay tuned for Information on new drives and take care of yourselves.

Tamela Kahle
President of the Las Vegas Region of the Porsche Club of America

RUF Rodeo
Amist the cancellation of the Geneva International Motorshow, many manufactures are still releasing their 2020 concept vehicle.

RUF, albeit a small manufacture, is no different. They have released what they are calling the Rodeo. It is an offroad version of their popular CTR model with a few tweeks.

It is powered by a naturally aspirated 500hp flat six with the option for a turbocharged engine. This is the first ever four wheel drive RUF vehicle. The driver is able to select just how much front wheel or rear wheel drive you get on the fly, much like the 959.

The Rodeo also features a bespoke saddle brown interior with design elements taken from southwest Navajo Indians.

Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona
On January 25th Dayton Beach, Florida played host to the famed Rolex 24 hour endurance race.

One of our own members, Jay Healey, attended the event and captured some amazing photos in the paddock and in the Porsche Hospitality Suite.
Meet the New Members of the Las Vegas Region Executive Board of Directors
Jeff Garofalo - Vice President

My first Porsche, and the first car I bought with my own money, was a 1986 Guards Red 911 Carrera with black interior and grey carpets, purchased in 1998 with 57,000 miles and sold around 2013 with 183,000 miles. Currently, I drive a 2004 996TT Cabriolet with an Evo600 kit on it. I bought from the original owner, who was a Las Vegas resident and the third Gaudin Porsche customer to get a turbo cab when they came out.

A young, enterprising tech at Gaudin named Todd installed the $20,000 worth of modifications that the first owner ordered, before delivering the car. When I was evaluating the car on whether to buy it, the owner told me to call Todd at his new shop, Trophy Performance, which I did, and he remembered the car well.

First stop after I drove the car home from California was Trophy Performance, where they did a comprehensive service to address all of the car's needs. I have put around 6,000 miles on it since April and it has been fun having a convertible. I am checking off items on my bucket list.
Barbara Washington - Treasurer

Barbara was born and raised in Idaho. She has lived in the Florida panhandle, central California, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Las Vegas. She and her husband, Charles, moved here in 1990. Barbara has had an extensive accounting career. After finishing her accounting degree, she worked as an accountant in a variety of fields; including, large not-for-profit entities. For the first time in years and through Barbara's efforts, our Club's financial information will be kept utilizing accounting software.

Barbara and Charles looked across the nation for a red Boxster S. They were planning on flying to wherever they could find the one and drive it home. Fortunately, they found a white 2013 Boxster in Henderson. While on their test drive, they fell in love with it. They bought it that day and have been enjoying their Boxster ever since.
