Happy New Year from the Las Vegas Triathlon Club!

As 2024 winds down, it’s time to reflect on the incredible year we’ve shared as a club. Our theme for 2024, “Fearless,” guided us to step outside our comfort zones, face challenges head-on, and celebrate triumphs both big and small. Whether it was your first triathlon, a new distance, or simply showing up for yourself and your teammates, you truly embodied what it means to be fearless.

Celebrating a Fearless 2024

This year was filled with milestones and moments to be proud of:

• First-Time Triathletes: You took that first step, faced the unknown, and crossed the finish line.

• Seasoned Athletes: Many of you pushed your limits, broke PRs, and tackled new goals with determination.

• Community Spirit: From training sessions to race-day cheers, the strength of this club lies in our support for one another.

• Challenges: Some of you have been struggling with injuries or other setbacks that made 2024 a tough year. But you are still here reading this newsletter issue – so you are still ‘in the game’! And that is worth celebrating.

A huge thank you to our members, volunteers, and sponsors for making 2024 such a successful and memorable year. Your dedication and energy continue to make this club a place where athletes of all levels can thrive.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As we head into the new year, the theme for 2025 has yet to be revealed, but rest assured—it will challenge and inspire us all to reach new heights. In the meantime:

• Take some time to rest and recover.

• Set bold goals for 2025—whether it’s a new distance, a faster time, or simply enjoying the sport more.

• Stay connected! Our 2025 race calendar, clinics, and events will be announced soon.

• Be sure to have the Polar Bear Plunge on your calendar! (January 1st, 2025, 11:00 am … in the water at 11:30 am). More details here.

• Get ready to order your new 2025 Las Vegas Triathlon Club kits! The store will officially open on New Year’s Day and stay open for 2 weeks—mark your calendars!

Celebrate the Season

As you gather with family and friends during this time, take pride in what you’ve accomplished this year. Whether you raced, volunteered, trained, or supported a fellow athlete, you played a role in making 2024 a fearless success. As we like to say: Triathlon is an individual sport, but we never do it alone.

Thank you for being part of the Las Vegas Triathlon Club. Let’s carry this momentum into 2025 and continue to inspire one another to be our very best.

Kick off the New Year with a splash! Dive into 2025 with the annual Polar Bear Plunge at beautiful Boulder Beach, Lake Mead.

2025 LVTC Kits and Sample Try-On Event!

We are so excited to announce the 2025 triathlon kit!

The store will officially open on New Year’s Day and stay open for 2 weeks—mark your calendars!

The sample try-on event will be on Saturday, January 4th, 2025 from 3:00-5:00 pm at Elevate Sports Performance & Healthcare. More details here.

Come try on sample kits to find your perfect size before ordering for the 2025 season!

We will have samples for tri kits, cycling bibs, and cycling jerseys.

2025 Membership

We are going to open Club membership January 1^st, 2025! Memberships will run through December 31^st, 2025. All club events are free with membership!

Our multi-sports events are typically between 50 and 75 athletes. We are not ‘… just another triathlon.’ Instead, we have a great ‘grassroots’ feel to our events during which members can get to know members.

All levels of athletes are welcome at our events. We have athletes completing their first event and have even had professional triathletes in our events!

But we offer more than just our four multi-sport events. We have clinics, podcasts, get-togethers, and help members connect with each other through social media channels.

We have the following membership categories:

• Single membership: $75
• Family membership: $95
• Up to 4 immediate family members.
• Family members must reside in the same residence or shared residence.
• Student membership: $40
• Full time students only.

The Las Vegas Triathlon Club Legacy Scholarship

On 12/10/20, five Las Vegas athletes were killed when an impaired driver ran into a group of cyclists. The athletes were Tom Trauger, Erin Ray, Aksoy Ahmet, Michael Murray, and Gerrard Nieva. These five athletes are endearingly referred to as TEAMG (Tom, Erin, Aksoy, Michael, and Gerrard).

Following their deaths, there has been an upswell of community support for the families and survivors directly affected. There has also been a renewed call for action to create a safer environment for our athletes to train here in the Greater Las Vegas Valley.

The purpose of the Las Vegas Triathlon Club Legacy Scholarship is to honor the legacy of TEAMG as well as any local triathletes who have been killed or injured as result of distracted driving. The Legacy Scholarship is designed to encourage involvement in triathlon by new athletes, youth athletes, and/or continuing athletes in special need.
