WOLVERINE GUARD 2019-2020
A Community Service Award Sponsored by BHS PTSA

The Wolverine Guard program recognizes students who perform 100 or more hours of community service for the period from May 1st, 2019 to April 30th, 2020.  Each student who reports their approved hours will earn the Wolverine Guard Certificate and be invited to the reception ceremony.  If you received this honor for two years during your high school, you can choose to receive an honor cord on your graduation. If you continue to have Wolverine Guard award for four years during your high school, you will be honored with special recognition.

Summer vacation is a great time to volunteer. There are many charitable organizations needing extra help to spread summer fun and as an added bonus, you will accumulate hours needed to earn the Wolverine Guard award.

Rules and regulations for the Wolverine Guard award are  HERE .

Please use the WG Community Service Form to track hours worked for each volunteer activity. Your forms may be turned into school's Counseling Office at any time, with your WG Application Form attached on top.

Further information, and required forms, may be found on the PTSA website .  We are excited to see this program grows year after year, and are proud of all of your volunteer efforts.

Please note: The PTSA Wolverine Guard is separate from the Bellevue School District's volunteer hours required for graduation. However, hours that are earned to meet graduation requirements may also be used to meet Wolverine Guard requirements.

Have a great summer vacation and thanks for paying it forward!  If you have any questions, please contact Ady Chan .

2019 COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOP

FINAL WEEK SCHEDULE & SENIOR SALUTE

Over the last several years, Bellevue High School has honored seniors during an assembly on the day of graduation.  Over time, the assembly has increased in length with the addition of awards, scholarship, and recognition.  To help maintain the integrity of our instructional program through the last few days, we have decided to move the Senior Salute Assembly to Monday, June 17th, the day before graduation.  This provides opportunity for students, families, and community members to attend, as well as staff, who facilitate final examinations, collect laptops, and manage the closing of school in preparation for summer.

Please look at the attached schedules for Monday, June 17th, through the last day of school on Friday, June 21st.

Warmest regards,
Vic Anderson, Principal

COMMUNITY CORNER
TEALS CALL FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE VOLUNTEERS

You can help inspire the next generation. Since 2012, Bellevue School District has partnered with Microsoft Philanthropies TEALS (Technology Education and Literacy in Schools) Program to build and grow sustainable, successful, and diverse high school computer science programs. This year, 21 volunteers are supporting CS classes in BSD. Volunteers contributed 1000's of hours to support Intro and AP CS classes, as well as matching dollars to support computer science education in the district. Thanks to the technical expertise and enthusiasm of volunteers, Bellevue students have consistently scored higher on the AP C S exam than the national average. We would love to have more volunteers from Bellevue join us in supporting schools for the 2019-20 school year. TEALS exists because many high schools want to offer computer science but don't have teachers trained to teach it. To fill this gap, TEALS volunteers work with classroom teachers to team-teach students, and equip those teachers with the knowledge to teach students on their own.

Together, we can help build CS programs at high schools to empower the next generation of innovators.
