PELLET ESTATE Cabernet Sauvignon Pellet Vineyard Napa Valley 2016:The Estate Cabernet is all hand-harvested and hand-sorted, blended with a touch of premium Petit Verdot and Merlot then aged a full 5 years before release: 23 months in custom Darnajou and Ermitage French oak, and another 36 months in bottle. Now at 7 years of age, all of the secondary flavors are emerging, bringing gorgeous depth and complexity to this full-bodied, classically-styled Napa Cab. It’s an extremely generous wine, with ripe, expressive aromas that jump out of the glass. On the palate, it’s big, opulent and plush with powerful complex layers of rich black cherry and black plum, fresh raspberry and wild blackberry, wildflowers, savory herbs and sweet spice—with velvety tannins on the silky long finish. Very impressive! 2016 is proving to be a landmark vintage. Robert Parker wrote: “I believe 2016 to be the best, most consistent Napa Valley vintage among a string of five great years: 2012-2016.” 94 points in Vinous: “lush and voluptuous”, 93 points from Robert Parker: “good intensity”, 93 points from International Wine Report: “gorgeous plush mouthfeel” and 92 points from James Suckling.  ONLY 270 CASES were made. Retails for $110, we’ve got the last of this magnificent vintage for just $95. SAVE $180 A CASE.

PELLET HISTORY (from the winery): Henry Pellet was one of the original pioneers of the Napa Valley in the 1850s along with Charles Krug, John Patchett, HW Crabb (of To Kalon fame), and Dr. G.B. Crane. Henry was elected the first Secretary of the St. Helena Viticulture Society—instrumental in helping establish commercial wine production in Napa Valley. The allegorical image on our label symbolizes the achievements and contributions of Henry Pellet's rich pioneering history in viticulture experimentation and education, and his highly acclaimed winemaking acumen in the fledgling days of our industry. Pellet basically presented Napa Valley wine to the world, in the best light possible. Artist Walter Shirlaw, from the Bureau of Engraving & Printing, created an original work titled "Electricity Presenting Light To The World" or "Electricity as the Dominant Force in the World," which was used as the central image on the 1896 Educational Series $5.00 Silver Certificate. Hailed at the time as a remarkable blend of legend, patriotism and beauty, this note is still widely regarded to be the most beautiful currency in U.S. history
