Last chance for Grinchmas Trees

Wednesday is the last day to purchase a tree to decorate for the Annual Grinchmas on the Green event November 26! Trees are set up with lights for you to decorate before the Grinch arrives. Tree decorating occurs November 23-25. 

Grinchmas on the Green

Celebrate the season by joining the Plainfield Park District’s annual tree lighting ceremony November 26 at Village Green. Enjoy hot cocoa and a cookie (while supplies last) while waiting for the Grinch and Santa to arrive and help with the lighting of our 30-foot tree and surrounding trees decorated by businesses and members of the Plainfield community. Photo opportunities with Santa and the Grinch are available after the lighting. Hot cocoa and cookies are available beginning at 4 p.m.

You Can't Catch Me Fun Run

Registration is open for the Second Annual You Can't Catch Me Fun Run to be held November 26 at Village Green. Participants receive a T-shirt and swag bag. Sign up for the noon or 1 p.m. race time. Stick around after the event for the Annual Grinchmas on the Green.

Black Friday at PARC

The Prairie Activity & Recreation Center is the place to be on Black Friday as multiple deals regarding Prairie Fit, open gym, walking track and more will be happening! More information coming soon... 

Youth Basketball Leagues for K-8

Volunteer coaches introduce participants to the fundamentals of playing basketball through weekly practices and weekend games. The league emphasizes proper techniques, knowledge of the rules, team strategy, participation and fun. Practices start in December, taking time off for the holidays, with games starting in January. 

Team Training

Team training from Prairie Fit provides a customized program designed for your team’s needs. Whether it’s speed, conditioning, strength, agility or something else, we create a comprehensive program designed to meet the needs of your team and the sport you play. Sessions may also be customized by training techniques desired, quantity of sessions, equipment needed, number of participants, and your unique team building needs. 

Video Message from Santa

Have Santa send a personalized video message to your little one(s) ages 1-13. Order deadline is December 10. Cost is $15 per family (only one form per family required).

Lunch Bunch

Extend your child's preschool or kindergarten day at Lunch Bunch! Lunch Bunch is for ages 3-6 and runs noon to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center. Participants build on their social learning, develop self-help skills and create new relationships while enjoying a routine of outside time, eating a packed lunch, and inside time. 

Smoothie 101 & Intro to Vegan

Two new youth enrichment classes taught by Vegan Chef Donna B are now being offered:

Smoothie 101 - Smoothie 101 is a fun and healthy way to introduce picky eaters to creating their very own delicious smoothie using fruits and veggies they want. Class runs 5:15 to 6 p.m., Wednesdays, November 9-30 at PARC. Cost is $15. December 7 class runs 6:15 to 7 p.m. at Wesmere Elementary. 

Intro to Vegan - Intro to Vegan teaches participants how to prepare vegan dishes packed with flavor and protein that everyone will enjoy. Class runs 4 to 5 p.m., Wednesdays, November 9-30 at PARC. Cost is $25. December 7 class runs 5 to 6 p.m. at Wesmere Elementary.
