1714 - Motus Planetarum Superiorum
Here we have a unique antique planetary map by Doppelmayer and published by Homann in 1714. This colorful and dynamic map shows the sun and other planets (Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn) orbiting the Earth, including their retrograde pattern. Don't miss the illustration of the planets personified as putti or cherubs, with Earth at the center and the other planets and the sun seeming to dance around it.

The second is a map of Cape Cod by F.J. Miller, c. 1950. This handsome map features a decorative border with fishermen, sunbathers, clammers, golfers, lighthouses, Cape Cod houses, lobstermen, sailboats, and more. The map shows towns and villages, with major roads and a few illustrated embellishments, such as the Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown. It maintains its vibrant original red, white, and blue color. A classic map of the Cape!

Maps of Caledonia County, Vermont
Bob's Vermont roots continue to shine through our recent acquisitions, this time in the form of maps from Caledonia County, part of the Northeast Kingdom. These maps from 1875 show property owners and businesses. The collection also includes numerous marvelous pages illustrating local homes, farms, and businesses, for which the owners likely paid an advertising fee.

Early Map of the United States
This rare and desirable collector's map shows the country at a pivotal time, when France claimed the land of Louisiana west of the Mississippi, Spain held East and West Florida, and Britain had solidified it's hold of Canada. Thirteen states are named with interesting boundaries. Maine appears to be part of New Hampshire and Vermont is part of New York. The western part of the United States is labeled Reserved Country. Many groups of Native American Indians are noted throughout. Gentlewomen in bright gowns flank the title cartouche. Spelling of place names is phonetic and unusual. This map does not appear on the market often!
We are sorry, but this map is not part of the sale.
