Join us for
Mi Casa es Tu Casa, our annual exhibit inspired by Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a traditional holiday in Mexico that celebrates ancestors and others who have passed away.
Each year, we invite community groups and artists into our "home/casa" to pay tribute to those who have passed.
Curated by Tracy Heller-Leroy, our theme this year is,
Lessons From Loved Ones/Lecciones de Nuestros Seres Queridos. We've asked the participants to interpret the idea of lessons and traditions; to incorporate stories and humor into their altars; and honor their loved ones by telling their story and what we've learned from them.
This year there are 24 altars/installations on display by eight schools and fourteen community groups, and ten individual artists who are presenting two- and three-dimensional work.
As you experience this community-based show, we know you will be inspired and delighted by the heartfelt altars/installations by young and old, using a variety of materials such as clay, photography, found objects, and mixed media.
