The I-fund has a 2025 return of over 10%. Meanwhile, the C and S-funds are down 3.3% and 6.3% for the year, respectively. That is vast gap in difference between U.S. stocks and the emerging markets fund. The I-fund tends to get overlooked by TSP investors who mostly use it as a supplementary investment and most don't touch it at all.
The I-fund's success still hasn't made it the most popular fund among the TSP Talk AutoTracker. Looking at active investors who have reacted to the markets this year, there are 377 members who have made at least one IFT so far in 2025. The current average I-fund allocation of those 377 members is only 9.5%. In comparison, the average C and S-fund allocations for this same group are both over 22%. The G-fund is the most held fund with an average allocation of 39.4%.
There are only eight AutoTracker members outperforming the I-fund for the year. These eight have a higher average I-fund allocation than the active members mentioned above, but they still hold more C or S-fund shares than I-fund shares collectively.
Average Allocation of the Top 8
G: 21.3%, F: 0.0%, C: 22.3%, S: 36.0%, I: 20.5%
Only three of the top 8 hold any I-fund shares. BHRUNIKH holds the most with a 100% I-fund allocation.
