Thank you for your support and enthusiasm for  the hard working 
vendors who make the Wayland Winter Farmers'  Market possible.
 Ten weeks have gone by very quickly and we will miss  your visits to the winter community we have shared as you shopped for local food.   
As we wait for  Summer Markets to begin, this final market of the season 
is a good time to stock up on your favorite items.  

The Wayland Summer Farmers' Market will take place on Wednesdays 
 in the front parking lot of Russell's from noon to 5 PM.
The season will run from June 27 through October 10.

Storytime returns this week and will take place from 
11:00 - 11:30 on the third floor. Thank you to the  Wayland Free Public Library and Sudbury's  Goodnow Library for offering this program. 

Sweet Lydia's will have Marshmallow Chicks back in stock for those 
who would like to stock up for Easter.

Coastal Vineyards  in South Dartmouth is one of fourteen 
vineyards  on the Coastal Wine Trail.

Over the last two months, David Conboy from Karma Coffee Roasters 
 has traveled to Africa and Guatemala to source the finest coffee beans for his  cafe' in Sudbury.  "  Our beans are painstakingly selected, small batch roasted, and hand packed in our light and oxygen barrier bags.  
We put a roast date on every label, so you know the beans are fresh."

  Codman Community Farm with Pete & Jen's Backyard Birds  brings pasture-raised pork, beef, poultry, eggs, dry-cured meat and hot sauce.

Red Fire Farm has a very good supply of greens, which are grown organically in Granby. There will be plenty on hand.


Michael Docter of Winter Moon Roots has partnered with Mi Tierra Restaurant to make delicious tortillas.  The corn is organically raised in Hadley.  Made with just the whole grain and no additives, you can really taste the corn.  Don't worry, when the Market is over, you will still be able to purchase them l ocally at  Volante Farms , Debra's Natural Gourmet , Idylwilde Farms and most   Whole Foods Markets .

Winter Moon Roots will be digging up spring parsnips this week.  
Now is the time to stock up on local roots!

the Market last week due to storm damage, but you will see her this
Saturday and she will be happy to sharpen your dull knives.

  "These days only a few New England farms still produce dry beans. 
I learned to grow beans in Central Maine, and at the same time began collecting unique local varieties from farmers that had been growing them for generations, said Charley Baer of Baer's Best beans.
"Our farm produces around 20 varieties of heirloom and specialty 
 beans each year. As a small farm we can harvest each type at peak maturity and quality.  Our crop is always fresh harvest and cooks 
 quickly, without the need for presoaking."

Drumlin Farm Camp has been offering educational summer camps to kids for over 60 years, and now offers camp at 3 different locations! At Drumlin Farm in Lincoln , campers age 4-17 explore our 200+ acre farm and wildlife sanctuary. At Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge in Sudbury , campers age 7-10 travel along miles of trails that wind through pristine habitats. At Wolbach Farm in Sudbury , campers age 4-6 make connections with nature through their senses as they travel across scenic and historic Wolbach Farm. All camps include hands-on crafts, games, and activities as well as visits with our captive wildlife.

The Herb Lyceum has been serving gourmet grilled sandwiches, 
soup, pot pies and coq au vin to Market shoppers all winter.  
At their farm in Groton you can  dine in their intimate restaurant on weekends year round, or celebrate a wedding and other special events
 in the warmer weather, when they utilize their beautiful gardens.

   Members of the Council on Aging/Community Center Advisory Board 
will be showing drawings of the proposed new Community Center which will provide space for: services for Seniors, play activities for children, recreation classes, displays of Wayland's historic artifacts, gatherings
of community groups and clubs. The Board of Selectmen has sponsored Article 20 in the Warrant for Spring Town Meeting, requesting funds to design the conversion of an unused building across the street from Russell's Garden Center into a Community Center.

HUGE thanks to the entire Russell's staff, who started promoting the Market months ago by speaking to customers through the holiday season.  The team that transformed the space to accommodate the Market will begin to return it to retail and growing space on  Saturday afternoon. 
 
   Snow plowing, retail product storage and movement, placing signs around Wayland, retail staff assistance during the market,  market 
set up/take down assistance were so appreciated.

The central "built" table will be dismantled on Saturday to make way
 for  shade annual flowering plants and water garden plants.
