A Message from Dr. Shetzer
Dear Panda Community,

On Tuesday and Wednesday all students will be STAAR testing. Please make sure that you student gets a good night’s sleep and that they are prepared for the day. Our campus will be closed to all visitors while we are testing (until approximately 2:30 p.m.). If you need to pick up your child before 2:30, please contact the main office at 713-295-5240 so that we can find out if the student is still testing and get them for you before you get here.

Progress Report #6 will be going home this Friday. Due to testing, most students will only have 2-3 grades on their progress report. We will be sending out Summer School letters in the next week or so; however, a flyer will be sent home with all students this Friday so that all parents know the dates of Summer School.

We hope that everyone has a great week!

President's Message
Hello Pershing Panda Families!

We are down to our last 4 weeks of school and they are busy! Last week, we celebrated Teacher Appreciation week with several meals. Starbucks (Stella Link & Bellaire) donated coffee, Shake Shack (Rice Village) donated 135 burgers and Click Virtual Food Hall (Pershing alum and current Pershing uncle) made a gorgeous feast to celebrate our 130 teachers and staff.
Next week, we will be selling tickets to the 8th grade dance during all of the lunches. Tickets are $5 cash or credit card. Behavior contract must be turned in prior to buying ticket.

The PTO is still looking for a Parliamentarian to serve on our Executive board. If you are interested in volunteering please email me at pershingpre@gmail.com.

8th Grade has some wonderful events occurring over the next few weeks. We are looking for food and drink donations. Please use this link to see where you can help.

Have a wonderful week!

Pershing Middle School is grateful to participate in programs that reward our school based on the customer loyalty and patronage of our families. A percentage of the proceeds spent on the rewards programs are donated back to the school. Please review the list of retailers on our PTO website and participate where you can. Remember that grandparents, Pershing alumni, neighbors, and friends also can designate Pershing on most reward programs – spread the word!

Need Assistance?
Here are some frequently asked questions from parents who have been looking for assistance.

  1. Where can I find contact information for my child's teacher? Our website directory is an excellent place to find our faculty and staff email addresses.
  2. How can I monitor my child's grades? HISD Connect Parent Portal is the spot! Click here for information on setting up an HISD Connect Parent Portal account.
  3. I have a question, but I'm not sure who to reach out to for an answer. If you have a question, you can reach out to your child's Homeroom teacherCounselor, or Assistant Principal for assistance.
  4. I need to schedule a meeting with a teacher, what do I do? Please email the teacher(s) you wish to meet with and allow them 24 hours to respond. Teachers are provided with a planning period each day, so they will send you those times to schedule a meeting. You can also call the main office at 713-295-5240 and leave a message for the teacher.
  5. I feel disconnected now that my child is in middle school. How can I get involved? This is easy. Join the PTO and attend the regularly scheduled meetings. We also recommend you attend the sporting events, fine arts performances, and PTO events throughout the year.
