Lutheran Church Charities Bible Study (LCC)

C.O.O.L. (Christian Outreach of Lutherans) - a food pantry for some of the neediest families in Lake County. Please bring a can of food/box of cereal with you when you worship and place them in the bins in Luther Hall. November food item TUNA.* Bread for Life weekend - Sunday, November 27. **

COOL THANKSGIVING MEALS
Thank you to everyone that donated to COOL Food Pantry for their Thanksgiving Meals. There was a total of $2,340.00 that was collected. Tom Haste drove to COOL this past Tuesday and brought them this donation. Thank you to everyone for help and generosity towards this great ministry.
 
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We are looking for volunteers for our ongoing Cool Food Pantry here at St. Matthew. We need 2 people each month (the last Tuesday of the month), for approximately 1-2 hours. Please contact the church office if you would like to help in this much needed ministry.


Sharing The Joy Christmas Card Craft Night…
Sharing the Joy Ministry is having a Christmas Card making night on Wednesday, December 1st from 5:30pm-6:30pm in Luther Hall. We will be spreading the Joy of Christmas to individuals at several
organizations in the area. 
Come and enjoy a fun night of crafts, music and fellowship with others. All are welcome to attend the midweek Advent service that starts at 7pm.
*Individual sub sandwiches, chips, and water will be provided. Please RSVP to selimos@stmattsonline.com if you are able to attend.

Sharing The Joy Angel Tree - Sharing The Joy
Ministry has placed the Angel Tree in the Narthex. The Angel Tree is helping several families that live in the community as well as WINGS, Lake County Haven and Animal House Shelter. Please see the insert with more information. There are many Christmas Wishes (tags) on the Angel this year. Please take a minute and see what families are wishing for this year. All gifts are to be unwrapped and brought back to church no later than December 12th. We ask that you please tape the tag on the gift so we know who it belongs to.
If you are not able to make it to church and would still like to participate in the Angel Tree, please contact the Church Office at 847/438-7709 and we can provide you with the details of ones Christmas wishes. Thank You.

TOYS FOR TOTS PROGRAM - The Hawthorn Woods Police Department has provided drop off boxes for toy donations to be distributed to children in need this Christmas. Place your new, unwrapped toys in the collection box, located in the Church/School office by December 12th.

Military Winter Coat Drive -

Holiday Gift Basket Raffle
November 27 to December 12—Before and After Church Services
Looking for a unique Christmas gift for friends or family? An assortment of gift baskets will be set out for viewing by the church office. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Women’s Guild Christmas post office. The raffle drawing will take place on Sunday, December 12 at the close of the Cookie Walk. Winners need not be present. Tickets are 6 for $5.00 or $1.00 each. Cash or check only, please. Thank you!

Calling all St. Matthew bakers!
Do you enjoy baking? Consider donating your Christmas cookie creations to the Cookie Walk. Kindly drop off your baked goods in the Luther Hall kitchen on Friday, December 10 or no later than 10 am Saturday, December 11. Bakers who donate will be included in a separate gift basket raffle, so be sure that your name and phone number are attached to your donation. Thank you very much for sharing your baking talents!

THANK YOU….
On Saturday, 11/20, 19 members of St. Matthew painted hearts and fish as the first step in making the Lutheran Church Charities “Hearts of Mercy & Compassion” Crosses for Losses. 80 hearts and 50 fish were painted.
We had 14 volunteers in the morning painting session and 8 volunteers at the noon session.
Thank you to everyone that volunteered. We could not do this without you..
