College of Applied Biologists


The College of Applied Biologists was created by The College of Applied Biology Act in 2003. It was the only legislation of its kind in North America, and was the first time applied biologists have been granted full professional status through self-governing legislation. In 2021, the College and its registrants came under the Professional Governance Act.

The Registrar provides leadership in delivering on the College’s strategic direction regarding the continuing evolution of the College’s regulatory mandate. The Registrar works with the CEO and Director of Practice to advance the profile and mandate of the College, develop policy, standards and supporting materials for College registrant in the execution of its mandate to protect the public interest.

BC Health Regulators (BCHR) has an exciting part-time opportunity for an experienced health care or non-profit leader to assist in advancing and promoting health care regulation in British Columbia. In this leadership position, the ED will work closely with the BCHR Chair and Executive to cultivate the province’s 16 health professions regulatory colleges’ collaborative efforts to serve and protect all British Columbians. These efforts are accomplished by ensuring that regulated health care providers deliver qualified, safe, and ethical care to their patients and clients. The Compliance Officer role at RECO is a critical and exciting one that forms the overall foundation of our regulatory mandate. You will blend analytic problem-solving skills with effective interviewing and communication skills to investigate complaints and manage case files. As a subject matter expert, you will provide information and guidance to the public and real estate agents on all manners of inquiries and complaints, monitoring problem areas and trends for compliance, and participate in other related regulatory tasks.

CORU regulates Health & Social Care Professionals. Our role is to protect the public by promoting high standards of professional conduct, education, training and competence through statutory registration of health and social care professionals. CORU was set up under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (as amended). It comprises the Health and Social Care Professionals Council and individual Registration Boards, one for each profession named in the Act

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer/Registrar, the Head of Registration will take the lead in ensuring the delivery of an effective and efficient implementation of the statutory registration processes.
