CPATA is a new, state of the art, national regulator (established June 28, 2021) and the only independent public interest regulator and licensing body of patent agents and trademark agents in Canada (a total of roughly 2,500 licensees). CPATA was established by the Government of Canada, by statute enacted in 2018 through the College of Patent Agents and Trademark Agents Act (the Act), to protect the public interest by strengthening the competencies of patent agents and trademark agents, and building confidence in accessible, ethical, and expert intellectual property services in Canada.



The CEO serves and supports CPATA’s Board of Directors in the execution of its responsibilities under the Act and regulations, providing strategic, operational, financial, and administrative oversight to the College. As the chief staff officer, the CEO leads a distributed team of 5 full-time and 2 part-time staff, and fosters a collaborative, supportive, service-oriented culture that is committed to equity, inclusion, and diversity. The CEO works with the Board to develop CPATA’s future strategic plans and priorities and to align organizational resources to achieve them, and ensures that the College’s policies follow applicable legislation, professional ethics, and best business and management practices.

Created on April 10, 1920, the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) regulates the practices of engineering and geoscience in Alberta on behalf of the Government of Alberta through the Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act.


Reporting to the Deputy Registrar & Chief Regulatory Officer (CRO), the Deputy Chief Regulatory Officer (DCRO) is responsible for the strategic leadership, direction, and day-to-day operation of APEGA’s professional disciplinary system (investigations, discipline, and appeals), compliance, joint boards, examinations, internal regulatory reviews, and associated regulatory projects. This position provides expert interpretation of regulatory process, policy and plays a key leadership role in supporting the CRO in any required regulatory matters.

The Newfoundland & Labrador Pharmacy Board (NLPB), established by legislation in 1910, is the regulatory body for the practice of pharmacy in the province of Newfoundland & Labrador. To fulfill its obligation of public protection, NLPB registers pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, students and interns, and licenses pharmacies; establishes and maintains a quality assurance program to promote high standards for the practice of pharmacy; develops standards, guidelines and policies for the practice of pharmacy; and responds to and manages complaints and discipline relating to the practice of pharmacy.


Reporting to the Board, the Registrar and C.E.O. will work in a dynamic and complex context, bringing strategic vision, an innovative mindset, and quality commitment to this significant leadership role in the province. As Registrar and C.E.O., you will be responsible for protecting the integrity and credibility of the organization’s mandate to develop standards and policies that outline professional obligations and provide guidance in adhering to federal, provincial and NLPB legislation, by-laws, standards, guidelines and the Code of Ethics.

The New Brunswick College of Pharmacists is the regulatory body for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians licensed to practice in the province. Under provincial legislation, the College is mandated to protect the New Brunswick public by promoting health care and ensuring pharmacy professionals have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide optimal patient care. The College governs and regulates the practice of pharmacy for a healthier New Brunswick.


Reporting to the Registrar, the Deputy Registrar and Director of Quality works to further the College in achieving its strategic goals and supports the Registrar in leading and managing the organization. The Deputy Registrar and Director of Quality assumes the responsibility of the Registrar (when necessary) and is responsible for the oversight of essential programs with a focus on:

  • Pharmacy Practice Standards and Policies;
  • Quality Assurance and Professional Development; and
  • Registrations.
