Every day in Ontario, Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) perform nearly half a million lab tests on blood, body fluids and tissues. Established under the Regulated Health Professions Act of 1991, the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) is the regulatory body for over 7,000 MLTs who practice in Ontario. The College protects the public’s right to safe, competent, ethical health care. The College is responsible for setting the requirements for entry to practice, establishing standards of practice, registering new Medical Laboratory Technologists, ensuring high quality of care and continuing competence, and holding Medical Laboratory Technologists accountable for their conduct and practice with public safety and high-quality care paramount.

Reporting to the College’s Board, the CMLTO is seeking an outstanding leader in health regulation to fulfil the mission of the College. The College operates under a policy governance model and the new Registrar & CEO will be accountable to meet the Ends Policies established in the 2020 to 2022/2023 Strategic Framework. Responsible for enhancing the ways in which the public is protected, the Registrar & CEO will provide sound stewardship of the College, working closely with a capable team of staff to deliver, and foster, best practices in programs, registration, quality assurance, human resources, and financial management. Ensuring that practices, programs, and services are in compliance with professional and practice obligations, the Registrar & CEO will build trusted and respectful relationships with the public, staff, the Board, members, the Government and other key stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a prestigious College focused on the well-being of Ontario residents through Family Medicine. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is the operational head of OCFP and is principally responsible for all OCFP activities, services, financial affairs, risk management and results in accordance with related legislation, and the By-laws and policies of OCFP. The CEO fosters the values of the organization and provides leadership, counsel and guidance in planning and directing the OCFP, implementing the strategic plan and maintaining effective relations between OCFP and its members and with external stakeholders. The CEO represents OCFP and sets the tone for the organization internally as well as publicly.
