The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario’s capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act. The Commission’s mandate is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair and efficient capital markets and confidence in capital markets, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk. This mandate is performed through policy, operational, adjudication and enforcement work. The OSC also contributes to national and global securities regulation development.

The Communications & Public Affairs Branch plays an integral role in promoting the OSC’s reputation as an effective and responsive securities regulator. The Branch provides strategic communications advice to ensure the timely and effective communication of OSC priorities, policies and actions across all corporate channels. These include stakeholder engagement, executive remarks, corporate materials, internal communications, media relations, issues management, the OSC Website and intranet, and enterprise social media.

The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) is the regulatory (licensing) organization for the province’s Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).
CLPNA regulates the profession by setting entry-to-practice requirements, establishing, promoting and enforcing standards for registration, practice, and professional conduct, and enhancing the care provided by members of the profession through the Continuing Competency Program.

Reporting to the CEO, the Executive Officer provides accountability for departmental planning, directing, staffing, coordinating and controlling functions and activities which contributes to the development and implementation of strategies, policies and procedures which align with the CLPNA Vision and Values.

POLICY AND GOVERNANCE MANAGER

The College of Physiotherapists of Ontario regulates physiotherapists and exists to protect and serve the public interest. The College protects the rights of patients to safe, competent, and ethical care by ensuring physiotherapists maintain professional standards of practice and are held accountable for their conduct and practice.

The Policy and Governance Manager will report directly to the Registrar and will be responsible for providing direction on policy development; expert advice and consultation on issues related to regulation and health policy; and oversight, direction, and support for the College’s Policy and Governance staff.

The Manager will provide expertise: on research, analysis, investigation; interpretation of current environmental trends in policy and governance; consideration of feedback from stakeholders; and awareness of regulatory obligations to assist the College in fulfilling its regulatory mandate and maintaining good governance practices.
DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/REGISTRAR OF COMPLAINTS

The Law Society was officially created in 1846. The Provincial Legislative Assembly adopted Chapter 48 of the Provincial Statutes which in effect incorporated what was then called the “Barristers’ Society” for the “purpose of securing in the Province a learned and honourable legal profession, for establishing order and good conduct among its members and for promoting knowledgeable development and reform of the law”.

While the name of the organisation has changed and is now the Law Society of New Brunswick, its original mandate has remained essentially the same.
It is important to note that the Law Society is an independent body, which has as its primary responsibility the protection of the public in the administration of justice.

The Registrar of Complaints is accountable to plan, organize, lead and control all operational aspects of the Discipline and Competence division to achieve the overall mandate of the Law Society of New Brunswick (LSNB). A key purpose of this divisional manager’s position is to provide leadership to execute divisional program and service delivery consistent with the standards of the LSNB. In addition, the Registrar of Complaints is responsible to provide advice and counsel to LSNB Executive Committee, Council and the Complaints, Competence and Ethics – committees of Council. As Deputy Executive Director, assists in the delivery of the duties of the Executive Director and in the absence of the Executive Director, assumes the responsibilities of that position. This full-time permanent position is located in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Reporting to the Chief Membership Services Officer, the Director, Communications is responsible for the development and oversight of strategic communications that align with, support, and clearly deliver on APEGA’s strategic priorities and operational plan.
This position is responsible for leading a team of communications professionals that is focused on effectively communicating relevant and valuable information to members, permit holders, external stakeholders, and staff. The Director, Communications must consistently demonstrate a high standard of excellence for communications, outreach, and stakeholder relations, and ensure that organizational messages are coordinated, strategically positioned, and effectively communicated to advance APEGA’s regulatory and member-focused objectives. This position is responsible for APEGA’s brand and reputation management across all communication channels and building awareness (with members, and internal and external stakeholders) of APEGA, its role as a professional regulatory body, and of the engineering and geoscience professions in Alberta.

The Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) serves as the professional regulatory body for the profession of social work in Alberta. Its regulatory obligations are legislated under the  Health Professions Act  (HPA) that has requirements for mandatory registration, continuing competency, the practice of restricted activities, and a specialty register for clinical social workers. The ACSW supports continuing competency activities for its membership such as an annual conference and regional events that promote skilled and ethical social work practice.

The Registrar & Executive Director (RED) is an Ex-Officio member and accountable to the Council of the ACSW for enacting the vision and strategy of the Council and for ensuring the organization upholds the regulatory standards set by the HPA, thrives through responsible financial management, efficient management of operations, setting and achieving operational goals. Reporting to the Registrar, the Senior Director of Operations and Finance (Senior Director) is responsible for overseeing all operational functions of the college including finance, human resources and IT. The current team reporting to the Senior Director, both directly and indirectly, is approximately 11 professionals.
