New North Multi Use Trails

Summer & Fall | 2025

A big shout out to all of the hard working volunteers who have invested significant time and sweat equity to carve out the new multi use trails on the North side under the direction of the WNSC Board approved Multi Use Trails Master Plan. The new trails will officially launch once the signage is installed and trail head maps are posted. Exciting times!

New Operations Coordinator!

September | 2025

A very warm welcome goes out to Sarah Sorcinelli, Wapiti Nordic's new Operations Coordinator joining us mid September. The Club's 2022 Business Plan identified the need to have an employee to keep pace with community demand by helping coordinate core programs such as rentals and lessons, overseeing lodge personnel, coordinating external bookings and supporting the volunteers who deliver the Club's diverse programs. Like the Trail and Facilities Attendant role, the Operations Coordinator carries a heavier workload during the Winter months, with pre-planning and wrap up activities a priority during the shoulder months. Historically Summers have had limited programming but the Board is open to new possibilities!

Events & Activities Survey

Open Now | 2025

The Board is interested to hear what type of events and activities that Members might want to see at the Club this coming Winter season. Also to see if there are some new faces who might want to step forward to volunteer and help organize or host them? Only five quick questions! Survey closes at 11:45pm on Sunday, Sept 14th. And a shout out to local event organizers of the Talk to Me Color Run, Meet in the Middle and the inaugural Mullet Dragon Duathlon who chose to host their events at Wapiti Nordic this summer and for being great community partners!

Trail Work Opportunities

Fall | 2025

It's that time of year when some of us are starting to think about snow and the trail clearing crews are being organized. There are also some areas that are being targeted for some Fire Smart work this Fall.  Many of you have indicated that you would assist in trail work when you filled out your memberships.  If you missed doing that but would like to help, please reach out via the red button. Crews generally need to walk up to 5 km on the trails and have solid skills with hand tools - clippers, loppers, etc. Work bees are typically set up in 2 - 2.5 hour shifts. The main focus of the trail work is to pick up debris from the wind and clear the brush that has grown over the summer, particularly the branches that will fly in your face when skiing! Thanks in advance.

XC Youth Race Team

Fall | 2025

The Wapiti Nordic Race team is up and training for the coming season! We are looking for new athletes (aged 8-18) to join the team. Coach Claire is open to questions (see red button). With the Alberta Winter Games (age: 13-16) and Arctic Winter Games (age: 14-18) this season, we’re excited to welcome snow early this year! So please get your snow dances started for us by mid October! We look forward to seeing you out on the trails this fall and winter!

Kids XC Leader Wanted

Winter | 2025-2026

The Kids Learn to Ski (Jackrabbit) program needs a volunter Coordinator for the 2025-2026 Winter season. The program runs Saturday mornings, from 10:30 to 12 noon. There are usually 8 to 9 sessions, starting on the first Saturday in January before school resumes, and wrapping-up in early March. The program comes with prepared detailed lesson plans & activities, plus lots of fun stuff to encourage on snow play. Admin support will be provided by the new Operations Coordinator, Sarah. Please email if interested of if you have further questions. If a Coordinator can’t be found before the season begins, we will offer an informal Saturday afternoon "play & ski" sessions, run by parents. Ski rentals will only be available to children participating in a 2025-2026 Kids Learn to Ski program.
