PLACE YOUR AD IN THE 2017 BASICALLY BLOUNT
Basically Blount 2017 lifestyle magazine and membership directory is entering production once again. This annual, full-color lifestyle magazine and chamber membership directory is initially distributed to all Chamber members starting Feb. 2017, along with distribution four times throughout the year via area professional offices, newcomers, visitors, and new businesses all looking to relocate to Blount County. Be sure your information is correct by checking here and emailing Amy with any updates.

In addition to intriguing stories and area photography that highlight the best of Blount County, Basically Blount also includes a finger-indexed, color-coded directory and buyer's guide of all Chamber members. Chamber members consistently tell us that they keep Basically Blount on hand throughout the year in order to find business products and services when they need them. In addition to 5,000 lifestyle magazines, we will have a complete online version on both the chamber and economic development websites.

We are pleased to offer a variety of advertising opportunities at cost effective rates. We have contracted with Marcon Marketing Consultants, a local Chamber member, to handle production and ad sales. If you would like to learn more about the benefits of Basically Blount, the importance of supporting the Chamber, and how to get your business involved contact Rick Ford of Marcon Marketing at (865) 705-8580. REMEMBER TO SHOP LOCAL
Think local first + Buy local when you can = Being a local!

A multitude of small businesses, each selecting products based, not on a national sales plan, but on their own interests and the needs of their local customers, guarantees a much broader range of product choices.

REMEMBER WHEN
"Set Adrift on Memory Bliss" by hip-hop group P.M. Dawn topped the Billboard Music Charts this week in 1991. The song is built around samples of Spandau Ballet's 1983 hit "True." It ranks number 81 on VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop.

The Dialogue

This feature is a question-and-answer session with a new Blount County Chamber member. So here we go with our 65th installment visiting with Mitch Parker, Owner/Partner of Safety Express LLC which provides industrial safety equipment along with Carhartt work wear.

Describe what you do. Our office and warehouse is stocked with everything to keep you and your employees safe, from hard hats & work gloves, to safety glasses. We only carry the brands you know will make the best protection equipment such as 3M, DuPont, Kimberly-Clark, MSA, Gatorade, Ergodyne, Honeywell-North and more because your safety is as important to us as it is to you. Safety Express is also excited to carry the best work wear available, made by Carhartt.

How did you get started? The owners of Safety Express have personal and business relationships that were developed by working together in the radiological and environmental fields for 35 years. We wanted to take our experience and provide an unmatched service to customers and build long lasting relationships built on service and integrity.

What is your background? Safety Express has been in business for 12 years and the partnership has over 75 years of hands-on experience in the industrial and nuclear safety environments.

Describe your customers. We have a wide variety of customers that include all companies that provide safety and personal protective equipment to ensure the safety of their employees.

Name three things you wish you knew when you started. I underestimated the amount of time, money, and competition that would be involved when starting a small business.

What do you enjoy most about your business? The long term friendships and business relationships you develop while helping each other be successful.
