Advocacy Day at Queen's Park gathers Chamber leaders
from across Ontario
On March 6th, Sueling Ching and Board Member Rick Chase represented the Ottawa Board of Trade at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce's Advocacy Day.
As we continue to work together towards equity, growth and improving the quality of life of all Ontarians, our message to elected officials is that we need government to create an environment of competitiveness and predictability for businesses to grow and drive prosperity for all.
Our small business sector, the core of our communities and our economy, continues to face significant challenges such as labour shortages and the rising cost of doing business – while still dealing with reduced revenues and the accumulation of debt (avg. $200K of pandemic debt). They are facing the repayment of federal loans at the end of this year. We need to be there for them with resources, infrastructure, training and promotion programs, and the ability to expand their market (digital marketing and elimination of trade barriers).
When it comes to healthcare and housing – they are the foundations of business and community success. We need smart planning, long term investments, attracting talent, supporting education to drive service, supply and sustainability in these industries is paramount to our collective success.
Let's get to work!
