“Community Mental Health 101”
Monday, July 20,11 am - 12:30 p.m.
(NOTE: Registration is required by 5 p.m. today)

This webinar will provide NAMI affiliates, IFSS providers, and family members an overview of the public, community mental health system in New Jersey. Our system of services may be full of names and acronyms unfamiliar to the general public, so we will demystify it.

We will highlight Intensive Family Support Services (IFSS) programs. Attendees will also be given an update on how DMHAS has been responding to the challenges of COVID-19. In addition, we will talk about FEMA and SAMHSA grants. A time for Q&A will follow.
OUR PTS CONNECTION SUPPORT GROUP IS RESUMING IN PERSON MEETINGS
Our free PTS CONNECTION PEER RECOVERY SUPPORT GROUP for veterans, police and first responders recovering from Post-Traumatic Stress as a result of their service will meet monthly at its new outdoor location as follows:
4th Tuesday of the month, 7:00-8:30 p.m.
New outdoor location:

336 U.S. Highway 206, Branchville, NJ

We will celebrate the extraordinary work of NAMI affiliates, programs, providers, and individuals dedicated to the mental health cause in the past year and beyond, including the timely response to community's unique challenges during the pandemic. NAMI Hearts & Minds is a presentation focusing on inner and outer wellness for people living with a mental illness. The upcoming presentation will be on  Nutrition and Mental Wellness , specially presented by  Rebecca Howard , and will be part of  NAMI NJ's Webinar Series !

Objectives of the presentation:
  1. To achieve an understanding of how nutrients in food affect the brain
  2. To identify healthier food choices that can be made when grocery shopping
  3. To understand the biological processes by which the body utilizes nutrients
  4. To identify foods that provide beneficial nutrients for neurological and psychological health

NAMI NJ is offering a presentation of its popular NAMI In Our Own Voice program to raise mental health awareness and reduce stigma. Learn from trained NAMI volunteers about their lived experience of mental health recovery; What Happened, What Helps, and What’s Next.

This is a presentation that NAMI NJ gives over 200 times a year to a wide variety of audiences, including high school and college classes, professional trainings, family education courses, and congregations.

FREE VIRTUAL MUNCH & LEARN PRESENTATION

"In Our Own Voice" presentation looks through the eyes of and is presented by Jennifer Finkle who journeys through a mental illness. This program is supported by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). We hope you will step away with a better appreciation for people who suffer from these unwanted symptoms of their mental illness. The presentation also shows that with the right support, people who have a mental illness can get back on their feet again to live productive lives. $1,200 FEDERAL STIMULUS CHECK
Many New Jerseyans in need may be missing out on their  $ 1,200 federal stimulus check  because they don't make enough income to regularly file taxes. Please help us get the message out that individuals with lower incomes who haven't received a stimulus check should visit the IRS web site. Non-tax filers must file a form available  here  with the IRS by October 15 to receive their stimulus payment.
