Middle School News

What a heartwarming virtual scholarship fundraiser! Thank you to everyone who participated! You are the MORE in Roycemore! We are so grateful for our amazing community!!
Sixth Grade Virtual Science Fair!
Our students and faculty were certainly disappointed that we were unable to have our Science Fair as normal this spring, but our students completed some amazing work! We want to share with you the great work they have done. Here's how to view the projects:

  1. Download the Flipgrid app on your phone.
  2. Open this document that contains links to all of the sixth grade science fair projects.
  3. In the Flipgrid app, scan the QR codes to view the videos where the students explain their background research, hypothesis, data, analysis and conclusion.
  4. When you view the video, it is an augmented reality video so you will see it pop up over what you are already viewing wherever you are.

Congratulations to our sixth grade students! Coming up next 5th and 8th grade!
Check out our great new virtual camps and courses being offered this summer! The first classes begin on June 8th-- including Creative Writing with Mrs. Milner! (see description below). We also have a variety of Adobe Courses that range from apparel design, to digital photography to surreal compositing! Minimum sign ups will be needed in order for the camps to move forward so sign up today!

Creative Writing!
Get your creative juices flowing in this creative writing camp. Students will work on poetry and prose, review grammar conventions, meet published authors, peer edit, and present their work.

We will meet for an hour a day, read mentor texts, share work, have guest speakers, etc.
One-on-one meetings between the teacher and each student will take place later in the day to go over their individual projects.

The camp will culminate with a Zoom poetry slam where students will be able to invite their parents/grandparents and share their work with their friends.
Share Roycemore With a Friend at our Admissions morning Tuesday!

We will be holding our final Admissions event for the 2019-2020 School Year this Tuesday. This is a great way for interested families to hear directly from Roycemore students and teachers about what it is like to be a Griffin. You are our best ambassadors, spread the word!

  • You cannot do P/INC for one class, and then A-D for another.
  • If you do end up with a grade of INC (incomplete), you will need to make up the missing work over the summer before receiving a grade of P (pass).
  • You must reach out to Adrianne Finley Odell (INCLUDING PARENT EMAILED APPROVAL), to declare your choice no later than 5pm on Friday May 22nd.

ATTENDANCE : Middle School students will STILL NEED to enter their attendance each day as they did before spring break. In addition, teachers will be taking attendance for the synchronous classes, so students are expected to "show up."

Middle School Community Guidelines
We will create a community in Roycemore’s middle school based on RESPECT. We will respect ourselves, our space, and our peers. In doing so, we will assume the best intentions of others and create a space where we are welcomed, feel we belong, and are known!
