Broken Wing Farm's Chili Cook-Off, Saturday February 22
|
|
Broken Wing Farm is a nonprofit organization based in Honea Path, SC that is dedicated to working with adults with Autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their goal is to provide a safe and stimulating work environment for these individuals while they participate in the growing process of the fresh food they will eventually enjoy together.
On Saturday, Broken Wing Farm teams with The Arc of South Carolina to host a fundraiser for their farm at the Fountain Inn Farmers Market. The event will include live music, a kids carnival and, of course, a chili cook-off. Proceeds for the event will aid in Broken Wing Farm's efforts to repair two greenhouses on their farm (one of which was severely damaged in last week's winter storm).
This event runs from noon until 2 PM this Saturday at the Fountain Inn Farmers Market. Tasting tickets are only $5 for a noble cause and fun event for the whole family. For more information check out Broken Wing Farm's Chili Cook-Off event page on Facebook.

Thomas Creek Brewery's Cask Night, February 25
|
Greenville's oldest craft brewery has been supplying the region with quality brews for just over fifteen years. This does not mean, however, that they cannot keep things fresh and new with exciting new flavors and unique twists on their core brews.
On Tuesday, February 25 Thomas Creek Brewery invites you to their February edition of Cask Night where they tap into a cask of their Up The Creek Extreme IPA aged on macademia nuts, white chocolate and raspberries. Neue Southern Food Truck will be offering their tasty wares for dinner and Pendleton's Doc Holiday will take the stage for your listening pleasure.
Thomas Creek's Cask Night runs from 5-8 PM and is only $5 for admission and a "flight of brews." For more information on Cask Night and other Thomas Creek happenings check out their website here.

AAFFA Annual Meeting Rescheduled for March 4
|
Last week's winter storm shut down most of the Upstate so it should come as no surprise that the Anderson Area Farm & Food Association's annual membership meeting and potluck dinner was one of the casualties. Originally scheduled for February 11, the AAFFA made the safe call and elected to reschedule the meeting for a later date.
AAFFA just announced that the event will now take place Tuesday, March 4 at the Bleckley Inn in Anderson. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring a potluck dish to share with the Upstate farming and food loving community while you learn about AAFFA's plans for the 2014 season. For more information visit AAFFA's Facebook page.
