This is the second year in a row for CJ Schools to receive the top rating in Missouri for the annual school bus inspections. The state-wide average is 90.9%.

Transportation Director Jared Richmond said, “Our bus mechanics, Taylor Warner and Jason Wright, along with our drivers, do a great job in keeping our buses in top condition for the safety of our students.”
The time has come to begin welcoming our new Kindergarten class! Registration is open now and is a required first step to completing enrollment! Use Parent Portal to complete as soon as possible. Further instructions may be found here.

Eligible children must be five years old before August 1, 2022, and live within the Carl Junction School District (proof of residency is required at screening).
After this step is complete, information will be emailed to parents about screenings and document verification appointments in April.

ACT WorkKeys Platinum Recognition
Carl Junction Senior and Carthage Technical Center Student Brynn Hoodenpyle has received the Platinum Level National Career Readiness Certificate, issued by ACT WorkKeys.

The ACT WorkKeys assessments measure foundational skills required for success in the workplace and help measure the workplace skills that can affect job performance. Less than 1% of the nation nnwho take the ACT WorkKeys assessment earn the Platinum level.

What is ACT WorkKeys?
The same company created ACT WorkKeys as ACT assessment for college readiness (American College Testing). The ACT measures students' academic skills and predicts success in college-level classes. ACT WorkKeys measures basic work readiness skills and predicts success in the workplace. By taking the ACT WorkKeys, students can earn the National Career Readiness Certificate, the NCRC. Many employers in the area use the NCRC as part of their hiring process and many other employers that endorse the NCRC. (Over 4000 companies in Missouri and many more nationwide). The tech center and local foundations partner together to cover the costs through yearly budgets and the Carthage Community Foundation grants.

Inclement Weather
Winter weather is upon us. When deciding whether to close schools, several factors are taken into consideration, including the amount of snowfall, condition of residential and thoroughfare roads, temperature, and the ability to clear parking lots and sidewalks. We work closely with the weather service and our team members personally travel the roads before making a final decision.

If school is canceled or the arrival/dismissal time is affected, an announcement will be made through our communication system using phone, text, and email; postings on social media and cjr1.org, and our local television stations. To assure that you will receive notification, verify that your parent information is up to date in Parent Portal.
Students join the Heart Challenge
Thirty-seven students in the Intermediate School joined the Kids Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association. The two-week Heart Challenge was part of the Intermediate Physical Education classes. These students took the challenge even further by joining the nationwide online challenge that included daily activities and lessons about heart-healthy and kind. The students could also earn prizes through fundraising activities. These 37 students raised $1,239.94.
