San Francisco-Wednesday, June 12th from 4-6 p.m. at the Century San Francisco 9 and XD in San Francisco's Westfield Centre 845 Market Street, The San Francisco Black Film Festival will hold its media briefing to give an overview of the festival and honor its friend, fellow film enthusiast and filmmaker, the late San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi. The media briefing is open to the public and is free of charge. A RSVP is required. Click Here.
The briefing will highlight official selection film "Disparity" written and directed by Justin Givens with his brother Jeremy Givens playing the lead in the short feature. The Given brothers hail from Los Angeles.

Closer to home, the work of San Jose's
Raj Jayadev
of Silicon Valley Debug is a short documentary that gives a glimpse of the power of being "my brother's keeper" as a defense attorney in the SF Public Defender's office, Jacque (pronounced Jac-coo) Wilson leads the charge on the behalf of his father, Vietnam Veteran Mack Wilson, his brother attorney Jacq Wilson, and their family to save his little brother Neko Wilson via CA State Senator Nancy Skinner's SB 1437. Charged with a double murder, he did not commit, Neko was saved from the death penalty or life in prison.

The film screenings will be followed by panelists who will discuss prison reform: former PUC Judge Karen Clopton; Supreme Court-winning civil rights attorney Pamela Price; and attorney Jacq Wilson. All three served on a panel on "Implicit Bias" with Adachi at Congregation Emanu-El during the 2016 San Francisco Black Film Festival screening of Adachi's "Racial Facial."
