Hello and happy weekend!
This marks the final Friday Features edition with looks at 2025 pavement Late Model champions. Eight are covered in these pages, including Northwest Super Late Model Series champion Ryan Phipps (inset photo from Elevate Racing Media).
East of the Mississippi River, we look at new UARA National Super Late Model champion Michael Atwell and Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway Pro Late Model titlist Hunter Wright. Their stories may end up being similar, as both were established drivers but then spent a number of weekends as crew members for other major teams. Atwell's time turning wrenches for Chris Davidson turned into this outstanding ride (and a $25,000 victory at last year's Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway). Wright was brought along on the crew for Donnie Wilson Motorsports for more than a dozen shows in 2025 around his driving schedule at Nashville and elsewhere.
Also included here is Big 8 Limited Late Model Series champion Randy Sargent, allowing him to one-up his father Tim Sargent. Two champions from New England are profiled: Devin Deshaies at New London-Waterford Speedbowl in Connecticut, and Brenna Humphrey at Riverside Speedway in New Hampshire. And our final two crown-wearers are from racetracks north of the border: Matthew Shirley in Saskatchewan (shown right below with all of his hardware in a team photo) and Clark Moore in New Brunswick.
