Hello again!
This Friday Features edition looks back at the two major pavement Late Model events from last weekend: the UARA Ken Hyatt Memorial at Auburndale Speedway, and the zMax CARS Tour doubleheader at Southern National Motorsports Park.
In addition to a photo gallery from each event (Auburndale pace car view photo from Tyler Sontag on the cover image), we have a close-up from each show. From Winter Haven, Fla., Nicholas Naugle came home second to give a boost to the Southern efforts of the Canadian visitor. Naugle has plans to stick around in the Southeast and run the ASA STARS National Tour race at Five Flags Speedway and the Rattler 250 at South Alabama over the rest of March.
The pleasant surprise of the CARS twinbill at the oval near Kenly, N.C., was London McKenzie. The teenager's CARS debut found him finishing third in the Pro Late Model race and holding that position for a good while in the Late Model Stock Car feature until some tire issues set in on his effort.
There's one more story included in these pages. Hickory Motor Speedway boss Kevin Piercy has some new help on his staff: Texas native and former Houston Motorsports Park and Mobile International Speedway promoter Gina Knowles.
Click on the cover image, or scroll down to the large-type underlined link near the bottom of this email, to read this week's Friday Features release!
We wanted to make this release public so you can see what most of the Friday Features editions will look like. To continue seeing LMD releases in your email box starting next week, you'll need to subscribe at a cost of $30 per year. The cost winds up being about 27-28 cents per release.
And once you subscribe, we encourage suggestions from subscribers on topics for Thursday Throwback and Friday Features articles (Wednesday Winners subjects are more obvious). We'll also get you caught up on any you may have missed since the start of 2026 (including yesterday's Thursday Throwback on past Rattler race winners Jason Hogan and Ryan Crane).
Those wishing to subscribe may send checks to the address at the bottom of this email. We are also set up on Zelle and Venmo; please contact me for that information at this email address, jimcarsonlmd@gmail.com. PayPal is also an option but we'd have to email you an invoice. We will do our best to make it worth the $30 per year for the subscription.
We hope everyone has a great weekend. Thank you for your support of Late Model Digest!
