Good evening!
Honestly, we weren't in the best or most productive of moods heading into this Friday Features edition. The passing of NASCAR national superstar and longtime powerhouse pavement Late Model team owner Kyle Busch caught us off-guard and has saddened us, just like the rest of the motorsports community (inset photo from last December's Snowball Derby courtesy Bryson-Lopez Racing).
The 41-year-old Busch was fantastic for our sport. Sure, he got on some folks' bad side now and then, partly because of his dominance (in my only time at the Oxford 250 ... well, I didn't drive from North Carolina to Maine just to see Kyle Busch win twice, dad gummit). Kyle Busch Motorsports springboarded the careers of numerous drivers and mechanics/ crew members, and that's one of the reasons why he'll never be forgotten. And in NASCAR he was often the straw that stirs the drink, and that's a necessary figure.
One of the two pages included in this Friday Features is a tribute to Busch. There's also a piece on a new venture started by Port City Racecars production manager Jim Cramsey, and hopefully a few more short-trackers will get to see action soon because of what's on RaceTeamBuilder.com
