Hello and Happy Monday!

The 60th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway is now complete. Actually for Late Model racing, it was complete after Thursday night. The final two nights at the half-mile in Samsula, Fla., were headlined by various open-wheel divisions; congrats to frequent Late Model racer and winner Cody Stickler on his triumph in Saturday's Modifieds of Mayhem Tour event.

New Smyrna's featured Super Late Model race was Tuesday's Clyde Hart Memorial 200 for the ASA STARS National Tour presented by Appalachian Sucker Punch. Carson Brown added to his stellar record with that victory (inset photo shown with Brian Taylor of Brown's longtime sponsor GBS Corporation; image courtesy Anthony Campi Racing).

Two more Super Late Model features and four for Pro Late Models took place last week. All of the results, plus story links for each race and a handful of photos, are shown below. That's the usual format of our Monday Digest each week.

Looking ahead to the rest of the week, the Wednesday Winners release will have profiles of the progress for each Late Model Speedweeks champion, Spencer Davis and Vito Cancilla. Then there will be plenty more from throughout the fields two days later in Friday Features.

To continue seeing LMD releases in your email box starting next Wednesday, you'll need to subscribe at a cost of $30 per year. The cost winds up being about 27-28 cents per release. And once you subscribe, we encourage suggestions from subscribers on topics for Thursday Throwback and Friday Features articles (Wednesday Winners subjects are more obvious).

Those wishing to subscribe may send checks to the address at the bottom of this email. We are also set up on Zelle and Venmo; please contact me for that information at this email address, jimcarsonlmd@gmail.com. PayPal is also an option but we'd have to email you an invoice. We will do our best to make it worth the $30 per year for the subscription.

Have a great week, and thank you for supporting Late Model Digest!

Tristan McKee (5) and Dawson Sutton (26) battle during Tuesday's Clyde Hart Memorial 200. Sutton, with Rackley WAR Racing, finished second in the ASA STARS National Tour season opener, while McKee, driving for Wauters Motorsports, placed third and earned the pole in his first series appearance. ---2025 TOURING ROOKIES OF THE YEAR

Above: The weekend's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series race winners from Daytona International Speedway made plenty of laps in Late Models around New Smyrna Speedway in their formative years in racing. Truck winner Gio Ruggiero ran Speedweeks for three Februarys, winning once in an Anthony Campi Racing Pro Late Model in 2022 (81; Ryan Nuttleman/ Ultimate Lap Photo) and twice in a Donnie Wilson Motorsports Super Late Model in 2024 (22; JimJonesphoto.com).

Below: Chandler Smith competed at New Smyrna just once, starting on the pole in the 2021 Florida Governor's Cup before finishing 13th. (photo courtesy Donnie Wilson Motorsports)

Below: 2026 Daytona 500 winner Tyler Reddick never raced at New Smyrna Speedway. His only two starts in pavement Late Models came in the Granite State Pro Stock Series, in special appearances since he was already established in the NASCAR Cup Series by then.

However, O'Reilly Series Daytona race winner Austin Hill ran twice at the half-mile in Samsula, Fla. Both visits were in the then-NASCAR K&N Pro Series, including a victory in 2015 (NASCAR photo).

We'll be back later in the week. Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,

Jim & Porsha
