Hello and Happy Monday!

The first week of March brought another week-long stretch of pavement Late Model racing. That's the first portion of today's Monday Digest.

This time the four-day grind for Late Model Stock Cars came at Southern National Motorsports Park near Kenly, N.C., where Matt Cox reeled off three feature wins, two poles and the Speed Week points title (inset photo from Andy Marquis).

LMSC racing was also on tap Saturday at Hickory Motor Speedway's season opener, along with Limited and Pro Late Models. Michael Bumgarner and Graham Hollar won in the first two classes, while the crate-engine feature came with a controversial development.

Pro Late Models were also the featured class in the richest Late Model race of the weekend, the 62nd running of the Alabama 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway. Jake Finch won for the third time at Montgomery, but this was his first triumph in the Ronnie Sanders Racing car in which the track's coveted bear trophy was at stake. Jason Vail was the weekend's other Pro race winner, at Auburndale Speedway in Florida.

Scroll down to see the results, a few photos, and story links where available. Two events which do not have links will be in the spotlight for this week's Wednesday Winners edition, then we'll pack plenty into the end of the week.

To continue seeing LMD releases in your email box, you'll need to subscribe at a cost of $30 per year. The cost winds up being about 27-28 cents per release.

And once you subscribe, we encourage suggestions from subscribers on topics for Thursday Throwback and Friday Features articles (Wednesday Winners subjects are more obvious). We'll also get you caught up on any you may have missed since the start of 2026.

Those wishing to subscribe may send checks to the address at the bottom of this email. We are also set up on Zelle and Venmo; please contact me for that information at this email address, jimcarsonlmd@gmail.com. PayPal is also an option but we'd have to email you an invoice. We will do our best to make it worth the $30 per year for the subscription.

Have a great week, and thank you for supporting Late Model Digest!

Above: Wednesday night's racing card at Southern National Motorsports Park began with a pair of tributes. Before Haley Moody's first Late Model Stock Car start in a number of years, she led the field on some pace laps around the .4-mile oval, as the "I Dig Pigs 125" event was a tribute to her father Jerry Moody. Before that evening's legends car race, Doug Barnes Jr. brought his LMSC out front for some pace laps in memory of his crew chief Chase Pistone, who passed away last Monday. Pistone was a well-known setup man for Late Model and legends racers. (image from Ultra Broadcasting)
