Good morning!

Last week's pavement Late Model scene had an early start, as 30 Late Models were on the entry list for the Dayton 100 at Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia OH. That event was held on a Wednesday, always a risk, but it paid off for promoter Gary Estes and others on his side such as the staff at nearby Shadybowl Speedway. We look at that successful venture in the first page of this week's Friday Features edition.

The other in-depth piece in these pages focuses on Isaac Kitzmiller, the 16-year-old second-generation driver who enjoyed one of his best Pro Late Model results last weekend at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola FL. We also have two pages of photos from the Badger State, both the ASA STARS National Tour doubleheader at Madison International Speedway and Slinger Super Speedway, and local action at Golden Sands Speedway, Dells Raceway Park, Wisconsin International Raceway and Jefferson Speedway (which a touching development at the Sands).

Two more photos are below. We'll be back Monday with plenty of results from this weekend. Thank you for reading!

Above: Most ASA STARS National Tour races begin with a four-wide salute to the fans during the pace laps. The quarter-mile racing surface at Slinger Super Speedway wasn't wide enough for four-wide, so the racers lined up for three-wide. (Ron Erstad Jr. photo)

Below: Two of the Ohio-based fixtures who enjoyed their reunions and the racing at the Dayton 100 at Kil-Kare Raceway were Gary St. Amant (left), the crew chief for race winner Travis Braden, and veteran Buckeye State photographer Scott McIlwain. (John Lund photo)

Below Right: Gabrielle Grigsby, a student at the University of Northwestern Ohio, became the first female to start an ASA STARS National Tour race in May at Newport TN. She and Brez Racing traveled to Wisconsin for last weekend's Friday-Sunday twinbill, although she has yet to reach the halfway point of a Super Late Model race.
