We don't want you to feel cheated having to wait until next week for the bulk of our coverage of the 58th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing (since there are still two nights of action scheduled; this Saturday's card has been called off due to impending weather).

So here's a Thursday Throwback which also deals with New Smyrna Speedway, focusing on the car owner for current Florida racing standout Brad May (#9, shown campaigning the Bobby Sears Racing entry with Gus Dean in last night's Super Late Model race; Jim DenHamer photo).

There's more below, with an update on Sears' driver from a decade ago. Scroll down to the large-type link at the bottom of this email to see this week's Thursday Throwback!

We have another Thursday Throwback story planned for two weeks from today. Thank you for reading!

Above: Rich Clouser, who drove Late Models for Bobby Sears for more than a decade, still races in various divisions. His most recent Super Late Model action came in 2023 when John Coffman put him in his #58 for a few races. At this year's Speedweeks, Clouser placed second in last Saturday's sportsman race, driving the #16 for Wendi and David Gould.

Rich and Jennifer Clouser have two kids: 20-year-old Kate, now working in NASCAR's member services and racing operations office out of Daytona Beach, Fla., and 15-year-old Blake, who won New Smyrna Speedway's super stock season championship as a rookie in 2023.
