To be elected to the board, you must become a member of the MNCC and the USCC before the start of your term and maintain membership with both organizations throughout the term.


Nominations are due on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 4 p.m. Elections will be held October 28 - November 1, 2024. You must be an MNCC member to vote.

Greater MN waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting grants

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is excited to announce that the Greater Minnesota Waste Reduction, Reuse, Recycling and Composting Grant, formerly the Greater Minnesota Recycling and Composting Grant, is now open for applications. Greater Minnesota Waste Reduction, Reuse, Recycling and Composting Grant

MPCA is offering approximately $1 million for projects that increase the efficiency or effectiveness of waste reduction, reuse, recycling, or composting programs. Reducing the amount of reusable, recyclable, and compostable materials entering landfills in Greater Minnesota communities benefits the environment and local economies.


Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024.


Eligibility: Minnesota counties, cities, townships, and Tribes outside the Twin Cities metro area may apply. Cities must have a population of less than 45,000. Applicants asking for less than the minimum grant award ($50,000) will be deemed ineligible.


Available funds: Approximately $1 million

Minimum award: $50,000

Maximum award: $250,000 per project



Applicants must match at least 25% of the grant request. Matching funds may not come from other funding sources administered by the MPCA.

At least $1 million in funding now available to support wood waste utilization projects across Minnesota

The MPCA is offering at least $1 million in grant funding for projects that will build lasting capacity to preserve standing tree stock and manage the increasing volumes of wood waste generated by urban expansion, the Emerald Ash Borer infestation, other tree diseases and pests, and storm-related tree removal activities resulting from climate change.


Applications are due no later than 4 p.m. CT on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.


Funding available 

At least $1 million in funding is available. According to project size, there will be two distinct funding pools: a large project funding pool with a grant project maximum of $250,000 and a minimum of $100,000; and a small project funding pool with a grant project maximum of $99,999 and a minimum of $10,000. Applicants must provide a match equal to at least 20% of the awarded grant amount.


Eligible applicants include the following.

  • Not-for-profit and non-profit organizations located in Minnesota or serving Minnesota.
  • For-profit businesses located in Minnesota or that have a facility located in Minnesota
  • A new business that will locate a facility in Minnesota
  • Political subdivisions of the state (including counties, cities, towns, etc.)
  • State agencies
  • Tribal governments
  • Educational institutions

The MPCA is seeking applicants for critical materials and packaging product stewardship work groups that will advise the agency on matters related to these topics. Applications for both work groups are posted through the Office of the Secretary of State website and will be open through Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Detailed information, links to apply, and contact information for questions can be found for each work group below.
